The School Community Relations Committee will be holding its Regular Meeting on
Friday, Feb. 16, 2023, commencing at 8:30 a.m. While the Committee is back to live
in-person meetings, members of the public may participate in person but are also
able to participate via the Zoom platform. Members of the public may join the meeting

line will be available so that any individual who does not wish (or is unable) to use

B. PUBLIC COMMENT
The School Community Relations Committee provides an opportunity for dialogue and
collaboration between schools and their neighbors, including the City of Coral Gables .
The committee looks for opportunities to improve schools in terms of physical
appearance, community involvement, and quality of education. The Committee will also
provide oversight of the City’s educational landscape; making sure the City is fulfilling its
recent education commitments and assuring that the needs of students and families are
being adequately served by the public-school system. Finally, the Committee is intended
to serve as a review committee for the Education Compact between the City and Miami
Dade Public Schools.
Public Comments shall be limited to two minutes per speaker. A ten second reminder
will be provided to the speaker prior to the closing of their time.

F-3 International Coastal Cleanup 2024 - Saturday, September 21, 2024 | 9:00 a.m.
Get ready to join millions of volunteers around the globe for the Ocean Conservancy ’s
2024 annual International Coastal Cleanup – the world’s LARGEST one-day volunteer
effort for our oceans and waterways.
Join Keep Coral Gables Beautiful on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 9 a.m. at one of the three
Coral Gables cleanup sites below. If you are interested in kayaking or paddle boarding,
please bring your own to the U.S. 1 & Riviera Drive location.

Gables by the Sea
Carpooling, ridesharing, and public transport are encouraged. Please bring sunscreen, a
reusable water bottle, and wear closed-toed shoes. Trash bags, safety vests, trash
pickers, and gloves will be provided at each of the sites.
Volunteer hours are available upon request.

F-4 Timothy McAllister & Frost Symphony Orchestra - Saturday, September 21, 2024 | 7:30

The University of Miami's Frost Symphony Orchestra (FSO) will have its opening concert
of its centennial season Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m. The concert features Griffes' The White
Peacock, Corigliano's Triathlon with acclaimed saxophonist Timothy McAllister, and
Brahms’ Second Symphony. McAllister, hailed as “a virtuoso” (NY Times), joins FSO for
the Florida premiere of Corigliano's work.

F-6 Parks Pollinator Palooza - Saturday, September 28, 2024 | 9:00 a.m.
Join us, Community Recreations, and Greenspace on Saturday, Sept. 28, beginning at
9:30 a.m. at the northwest corner of the Coral Gables Country Club, 990 Alhambra
Circle, for Parks Pollinator Palooza 2024.
Participate in a family friendly event while giving back to nature. September is all about
pollinators as we restore a planting bed with native and pollinator plant species to create
our very own butterfly garden. The event includes children ’s crafts and readings, planting
activity, and an introduction to the iNaturalist app to track and record local pollinator
species in our community and backyards.
F-7 Hispanic Heritage Celebration - Saturday & Sunday, September 28 & 29, 2024 | 7:30

The Alhambra Orchestra, led by by Artistic Director Daniel Andai, presents an
unforgettable celebration of Hispanic composers including Lecuona, Rodrigo, Sarasate,
Tarrega and more, featuring the guitar concerto by Villa -Lobos with soloist Koh Kazama,
a professor at New World School of the Arts. Attendees will enjoy hearing flutist Carol
Naveira-Nicholson in a lovely piece by Rodrigo, and violinists Steffen Zeichner and Daniel
Andai in a virtuosic duet by Sarasate. Plus, of course, rousing popular Latin melodies.
The Alhambra Orchestra is Miami’s community orchestra, presenting live classical
performances in affordable, convenient venues. Tickets are just $ 10 for adults and $5 for
seniors and students.

Public Notice of Sunshine Meeting
Please all take notice that in accordance with the City of Coral Gables Code Section
2-32(b)(3) and Chapter 286.011(1), Florida Statutes, there will be a community meeting to
provide information regarding the renovations of Rotary Centennial Park, located at 512
Ponce De Leon Blvd. Said meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at 6
p.m. at the Coral Gables Police & Fire Headquarters Community Meeting Room at 2151
Salzedo Street, Coral Gables, FL 33134. Said meeting will be attended by members of
the City Commission. Pursuant to the Sunshine Law.

F-10 Gables Gallery Night - Friday, October 4, 2024 | 6:00 p.m.
Coral Gables galleries and participating art venues open their doors on the first Friday of
the month from 6 to 10 p.m. as part of Coral Gables Gallery Night. At this monthly event,
attendees can enjoy live music and fine art while enjoying a night out in the City
Beautiful. Visitors are encouraged to use the city's trolleys or Freebee on -demand
vehicles to travel between galleries.

The Venetian Pool will open its doors on Sunday, Oct. 6 for the annual Paws in the Pool!
There are two sessions scheduled. The first session for small dogs (under 30 pounds.)
takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The large dogs session is sold out.

Seraphic Fire's Artistic Director Patrick Dupre Quigley will give audiences a crash course
on the history of Western music in one lively evening with chorus, period keyboard
instruments, and cello. You’ll hear the contrasts and connections between eras: the
stark simplicity of Medieval chant, the rich polyphony of the Renaissance, the ornate
structure of the Baroque, the elegant balance of the Classical, the passionate intensity
of the Romantic, and the creative ingenuity of the Contemporary.

F-14 Phade Matheson Hammock Beach Clean Up - Saturday, October 12, 2024 | 9:00 a.m.
Join Keep Coral Gables Beautiful and Phade for a fun and impactful beach and
mangrove litter cleanup at Matheson Hammock Park on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 9 to 11
a.m. Make a difference in our community by helping us remove litter from our beautiful
coastal areas. Phade will be offering gift cards and exciting giveaways to volunteers .
Let's work together to keep Coral Gables clean and beautiful!

NOTE
Any person who acts as a lobbyist pursuant to the City of Coral Gables Ordinance No .
2006-11, must register with the City Clerk, prior to engaging in lobbying activities before
city staff, boards, committees and/or the City Commission. A copy of the Ordinance is
available in the Office of the City Clerk, City Hall.
Any person, or persons, wishing to appeal any decision made by the City Commission
with respect to any matter considered at this meeting or hearing, will require a verbatim
record of the proceeding upon which the appeal is based. Interested persons should,
therefore, take the necessary steps to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings
is made which contains the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is based.
Any person making impertinent or slanderous remarks or who become boisterous while
addressing the Commission, shall be barred from further audience before the
Commission by the Chair, unless permission to continue or again address the
Commission is granted by the majority vote of the Commission Members present .
Clapping, applauding, heckling or verbal outbursts or any remarks in support or
opposition to a speaker shall be prohibited. Signs or placards shall not be permitted in
Commission Chambers.
Any person with a disability requiring communication assistance (such as a sign
language interpreter or other auxiliary aide or service) in order to attend or participate in
