City of Coralville Board of Adjustment Meeting April 15, 2019 Staff: Jim Kessler, Building and Zoning Official and Dee Marshek, Administrative Assistant 1. Call meeting to order 6:00 p.m. Co-Chair Nesbett conducted the meeting. 2. Roll Call: Wells, Nesbett, Nicola, and Knudson Absent: Boucher 3. Approve March 18, 2019 Minutes. Nicola: Motion to approve the Minutes. Knudson: 2nd Motion. Motion Carried: 4-0 4. Public Hearing request by Derrin Boerschel will be for a Variance to Section 165.21 (6) (B) Rear Yard Setback of the City’s Code of Ordinances. This property is located at 1490 Westview Drive. Public Hearing Open: Public Hearing Closed: a) Consider approval of the Variance. Nicola: Motion to Approve. Wells: 2nd Motion. Kessler explains the setbacks at this address located on the corner of Westview Drive and Holiday Road. The owner has requested a variance to the 30' rear yard set back to build a sunroom at back of the house. The sunroom would encroach 3' into the required rear yard setback. Kessler stated that letters were sent to the neighboring properties and we didn’t hear from anyone. Nicola ask if the City had any objections. Kessler added that there were no objections and the back yard does have trees and a fence that buffer the neighboring property. Members briefly discuss the variance request.  Motion Carried: 4- 0 7.
