City of Coralville Board of Adjustment Meeting October 19, 2020 Staff: Dave Johnson, Community Development Director and Dee Marshek, Administrative Assistant Item 1: Meeting called to order 6:03 PM Item 2: Member present: Nicola, Wise, and Pearl Absent: Borde Others: Mike Bails with Urban Acres Real Estate Item 3: Approval of Sept 21, 2020 Minutes. Motion to approve: Pearl Motion 2nd: Wise Motion carried: 3-0 Item 4: Public Hearing request by Grand Rail Development and Mike Bails for a Variance to Section 165.21 (6) (B) Rear Yard Setback located at 13-15 Pond Ridge Circle. Public Hearing Open: Mike Bails with Urban Acres Real Estate stated he has a purchase agreement for this property and the new owners would like to add a four-season room to the back of this home like the adjacent property has built. It was realized that this would encroach into the setback, this is the reason for this request. He noted the variance would allow a 17' setback from the rear property line instead of the required 25'. He added the City now owns the green space and the pond behind this property. Public Hearing Close: a) Consider approval of Variance. Motion to consider approval: Wise  Motion 2nd: Pearl Members and Bails discussed the location, nearby lots, and neighborhood concerns. Community Development Director Dave Johnson explained to the members their role in the request and findings for a variance.
