CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION Minutes of May 27, 2016 Present: Commission Members Eve Casserly; Lauren Merritt; Human Resource/Risk Manager Mike Funke; Police Chief Barry Bedford Meeting was called to order at 4:27 PM. Approve Agenda: Motion to approve by Merritt; Second by Casserly; Motion passed all ayes; 1 absent Approve Minutes of March 28, 2016: Motion to approve by Casserly; Second by Merritt; Motion passed all ayes; 1 absent Consider Certification of the Police Officer Hiring List: The list of candidates was presented in rank order to the Commission by Funke. Funke noted there were 31 applications received; 19 who reported for the test; 10 were interviewed on May 22 and 23. The interview committee consisted of Funke; Lt. Kron; Lt. Summers; Officer Swank; and citizen Alex Lodge. He explained the five candidates presented on the list were unanimous in that all five committee members placed them on their individual hiring list. Funke then gave a brief bio of each of the five. Chief Bedford gave a summation of the process after the list is certified which includes ordering background investigations reminding the commission that the interview committee only receives a small amount of information and more in depth research will be done prior to any offers of employment. Motion to approve by Merritt; Second by Casserly; Motion passed all ayes; 1 absent Other Business: Commission members were asked to look towards the week of June 27 – July 1 as possible dates to have a meeting in order to discuss and certify the Sergeant Promotional List. Bedford informed the Commission that testing will be done June 23 and assuming a list is certified the week of June 27 – July 1, he has July 11 as a target date to announce his selection.
