5. COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC
Victor Hernandez, From the office of Assembywoman Leticia Castillo, spoke about the
State budget as it pertains to libraries. There have been no proposed cuts to the library
program or the California Library Services Act. 30 million dollars has been allocated for
local assistance funding for libraries. There is also $150,000 going to support a state
government, oral history program which requires the collaboration of the California state
Library. They have reappropriated on a one-time basis funding for Building Forward
infrastructure grants which will expire June 30, 2028. They have allocated another 9
million dollars for grants up to 4.5 million each for local library infrastructure projects that
have yet to be funded. California State Library will require matching funds for these
projects. Their office is located off of Main Street and Harrison in Corona.
6. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS

Director, Donna Finch, introduced Library Manager, Daniell Whittington, and the
report to be presented.
Daniell presented the Library report for June 2025.
The Trustees provided comments.
6.2 Innovation Center & Adult Refresh

Innovation Center and Adult Refresh report.

7. TRUSTEE COMMUNICATIONS
Trustee, Liddell, reminded everyone about the Friends annual membership drive. If you
join or renew before June 30th you will receive a raffle ticket for a basket.
Trustee, Heineman, mentioned Purse-a-Palooza. This is a fundraiser that the Friends
are doing to raise funds for the Library.
Vice Chair, Leonard, commended the City of Corona and the Library as it is one of the
only places that people as young as 12 years old can volunteer. It is a great way to pad
your college application.
Chair, Kennerly, is very excited to see everything the Library is doing in the City as well
as in the physical building. Summer at Your Library seems to be something that
everyone looks forward to yearly. She will be at the puzzle competition on Thursday.

6. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS
6.1 Friends of the Library Report
Gretchen Doughty, President, the Friends of the Corona Public Library provided
a report on everything that the Friends of the Corona Public Library have
accomplished recently.
Trustees provided comments and appreciation of the Friends and their support
for the Library.
6.2 Library Report - May 2025
Director, Donna Finch, introduced Library Manager, Daniell Whittington, and the
report to be presented.
Daniell presented the Library report for May 2025.

6.3 Summer At Your Library (SAYL) Preview Report
Library Manager, Daniell Wittington, introduced Library Supervisor, Jennifer
Bauserman, and the Summer At Your Library (SAYL) Preview.
Jennifer Bauserman presented the Summer At Your Library (SAYL) Preview
report. SAYL runs from June 9th - August 1st for all ages.
Trustees provided comments and appreciation for the variety of programs.
7. TRUSTEE COMMUNICATIONS
Trustee, Heineman, mentioned that she was contacted by a Library tutor that is
concerned about the temperature in the High Desert room. She asked if there is an
update on the HVAC system. Director, Donna Finch, mentioned that we have a CIP to
pay for the project. We should see some movement on this project in the next 3 - 6
months. Trustee, Heineman, also asked about an update on the Innovation Center at
the Library. Director, Donna Finch, said that we are working on a design for the
Innovation Center now. We should be going out to bid on the construction in early
Summer. The funds must be expended by June 30th, 2026. We have a tight timeline,
but we are on track.
Trustee, Towler-Hayes, wanted to thank the Friends for paying for the Trustees to go to
the Serving with a Purpose convention. It was an excellent day. She loved the breakout
sessions. She also learned about Everyday Library, which is an organization and
political action committee focusing on influencing policy ecosystem, and it is free.
Chair, Kennerly, also thanked the Friends for paying for them to attend the Serving with
a Purpose convention, and Trustee, Towler-Hayes, for leading one of the breakout

sessions that was about 2-hours long. Overall, it was a great day. She also thanked the
Friends for all that they do for the Library.
