FINAL City of Corona Library Board of Trustees' Minutes Tuesday, August 26, 2025, 5:30 p.m. Council Chambers 400 S. Vicentia Avenue Corona, CA 92882 Trustees Present: Aisha Kennerly Cherise Leonard Shirley Towler-Hayes Ruth Heineman Trustee Absent: Leslie Liddell _____________________________________________________________________ 1. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Trustee, Shirley Towler-Hayes. 2. CALL TO ORDER Chair, Aisha Kennerly, called the meeting to order at 5:30PM. 3. CONSENT CALENDAR 4.1 Board Graph, Stats, Calendar, and Flyers Moved by: Cherise Leonard Seconded by: Ruth Heineman Aye (4): Aisha Kennerly, Cherise Leonard, Shirley Towler-Hayes, and Ruth Heineman Absent (1): Leslie Liddell MotionAPPROVED (4 to 0) 1 FINAL 5. COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC None. 6. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS 6.1 Library Report - August 2025 Director, Donna Finch, introduced Library Manager, Daniell Whittington, and the report to be presented. Daniell presented the Library Report for August 2025. The Trustees provided comments. 6.2 Friend of the Library Report Gretchen Doughty, President, the Friends of the Corona Public Library provided a report on everything that the Friends of the Corona Public Library have accomplished in the previous fiscal year. Trustees provided comments and appreciation of the Friends and their support for the Library. 6.3 Year End Review Library Manager, Daniell Whittington, introduced the Year End Review and went over the Strategic Plan and where we are with the Strategic Plan Goals. Librarian I, Soo Ji Seo, gave a report on what we have accomplished in Library Services in the last year. Library Supervisor, Jennifer Bauserman, gave a report on the Library Programming stats for the last year. The Trustees provided comments and appreciation for all of the work that the Library staff has done in the past year. 6.4 Summer at Your Library Recap Library Supervisor, Jennifer Bauserman, presented the Summer at Your Library Recap. She showed all of the programs and activities that took place during the Summer. The Trustees provided comments and appreciation for the variety of programs that were offer and thanked all the staff involved in Summer at Your Library. 7. TRUSTEE COMMUNICATIONS Vice Chair, Leonard, would love to bring back the award for the school with the most participation in the Summer reading program. She also asked if they could get some stats on how often the Francis Aldama Martinez community room is rented out. She asked if the Library receives the revenue from these rentals. Director, Donna Finch, let them know that the revenue goes to the City's general fund which supports all of Community Services. Trustee, Heineman, asked for an update on the rehab of the Library and especially the HVAC system. Library Manager, Daniell Whittington, said that we are on track for the elevator and HVAC repair. The elevator will probably be repaired before the HVAC. Director, Donna Finch, did mention that the HVAC is a Capital Improvement Project for 2 FINAL Fiscal Year 2026. The Police Department HVAC has been in the que a little longer so, as soon as that one goes out then the Library HVAC system is right behind it. We should see things moving forward in early 2026. We have a new Project Manager in Public Works that is a Mechanical Engineer and is working with us on both of these projects. 8. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 6:39PM.
