FINAL City of Corona Library Board of Trustees' Minutes Tuesday, October 28, 2025, 5:30 p.m. Council Chambers 400 S. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Trustee, Leslie Liddell. 2. CALL TO ORDER Vice Chair, Cherise Leonard, called the meeting or order at 5:31 PM. 3. COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC Resident, Bill Nash, mentioned that he has had six different people tell him that they watch the Library Board of Trustees' meetings. He also wanted to talk about the Library's Zipbook program. If they Library does not have the book that you are looking for, you may ask and they will order it from Amazon and it will come directly to your home and you can keep it for up to 6 months before returning it to the Library. He also spoke about the book he received recently, Listening to the Law, by Amy Coney Barrett. It gives the history of the Constitution. A lot of these details are not covered in schools. He would like to see small pamphlet style versions in the Children's and Teen areas of the Library. 6. YOUTH UPDATE The Mayor's Youth Council representative, Porter Richins, spoke about the Mayor's Youth Council. The Mayor's Youth Council offers students the opportunity to serve their community, gain a wealth of experience in local government, and add their voice to discussions that will shape our community. At the first meeting they learned what each department does for our residents. They will partner up with another Youth Council member, choose a department, and present a presentation on how that department works and what they do. They met with Mayor, Jim Steiner, and the City Council members at the October 15th City Council meeting. They introduced the 2025/2026 Mayor's Youth Council. The Mayor's Youth Council meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every month. Their next meeting will be November 18th. Trustees provided comments and questions. They expressed their appreciation for the service of the Mayor's Youth Council. 7. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS 7.1 Library Report - October 2025 Director, Donna Finch, introduced Library Manager, Daniell Whittington, and the report to be presented. Daniell presented the Library Report, along with, Office Assistant, Brittany Swiney, for October 2025. The Trustees provided comments. 7.2 Heritage Room Report Library Manager, Daniell Whittington, provided a report on the Corona Public Library's Heritage Room. Trustees provided questions and comments. 8. TRUSTEE COMMUNICATIONS Trustee, Heineman, mentioned that she attended the California Library Association (CLA) conference in Riverside. It will also be in Riverside next year. She did run into a lot of the Library staff at the conference. She hopes their will be money in the budget for the staff to attend next year. Trustee, Liddell, asked if the Library has ever considered putting on a mini conference for staff and others. Daniell mentioned that the Library staff does have an all-staff 2  FINAL training day in February. This is just for training, team building, bonding, and shelf reading. As for a larger conference in which we invite other public libraries, we have not. That could be on the horizon, especially with the Innovation Center opening. Vice Chair, Leonard, mentioned that the Friends of the Library have been crazy busy with Purse-A-Palooza which was extremely successful. They had an author event with Crime, Thriller, and Mystery authors. ReaderCon was amazing with 62 authors and 400- 500 in attendance. She thanked Library Manager, Daniell Whittington, and Library Supervisor, Jennifer Bauserman, for putting on such an amazing event for our children. She and Trustee, Heineman, really enjoyed themselves. She also thanked Mr. Nash, Porter Richins, Councilman, Richins, and Brittany Swiney for coming tonight. 9.
