Town Of Cortland Town hall 59 S. Somonauk Road Cortland, IL 60112 Park Advisory Committee Minutes November 12, 2025 6:30 p.m. Call to Order I Roll Call Committee Chair Ms. Fioretto called the meeting to order at 6:37 p.m. Ms. Fioretto called the roll call as present Committee Members, Mariann Kaminski, Curtis Kouba, and Michelle Bergeson. Committee members Trent Moser, Josh Orr, Liz Botts, and Angel Mendez were absent. Quorum was present. Approval of Agenda Ms. Kaminski moved to approve the agenda seconded by Mr Kouba. A unanimous voice vote carried the motion. Approval of Minutes Ms. Bergeson moved to approve the minutes for August 12, and September 9, 2025, seconded by Mr. Kouba. A unanimous vote carried the motion. Hearing of Staff/Citizens No one wished to speak at this time. New Business for Discussion and Possible Action There was no new business. Unfinished Business for Discussion and Possible Action Discussion of Signage for Newly Named Parks The committee discussed potential new signage options with Steve lrman. Mr. lrman presented several color options, and the committee unanimously agreed that the green­ tan-green option was preferred. The committee also discussed recommending to the Board that a consistent signage style be used throughout all town parks and expressed a desire to have all park signs replaced. Additionally, it was discussed that the back of each park sign could be engraved with the history of the park, including the origin of the park's name and other relevant information. (): Approved:--' .,...· ·._· .._ _____ Page 1 of 2 GJ Parks Advisory Committee Minutes November 12, 2025 Discussion of canceling December and January meetings Chair Fioretto mentioned the possibility of reducing the meeting schedule as the committee moves into the winter seasons with the holidays. She suggested canceling the meetings for December and January. The committee was in favor. It was decided that the next meeting will be held on February 10th. Ideas for the Future of Cortland Parks The committee discussed the possibility of installing solar downlighting in the parks to help deter vandalism, including motion-sensor lights that would activate only when movement is detected. They also explored whether it would be feasible to hire a part- time employee during the summer months to care for the parks. Responsibilities could include weed maintenance, general cleanup, minor repairs to park equipment, and planting flowers around park signage. Adjournment Chair Fioretto asked if there was any additional business to discuss. With no further items brought forward, Chair Fioretto called for a motion to adjourn. A motion was made by Mr. Kouba and seconded by Ms. Kaminski.
