Present: Chairman Linda Kline, Commissioners Mary Ann Kane, Richard Stock, Dan Dineen, and Pam Abbott Absent: Commissioners Chris Barnes, Karina Murphy Staff Present: Secretary Shellie Blaisdell Item #1 – 65 Main Street/NBT – (McNeil Development) – Renovations Applicant is requesting to remove the existing main entrance and replace with the same style as the newly renovated entrance next to the drive through which was just completed (and previously approved by this board). The brick matching existing brick wall. Will replace the granite door with a single entrance door with transom and side lights. The metal frame may not have the metal decorative brackets. (Might not need the supporting posts as in the rear). The existing sign will be removed and re-installed above the new entry. Decision of Commission: A motion was made by Comm. Dineen to approve the application and was seconded by Comm. Stock. Motion by: Comm. Dineen Seconded by: Comm. Stock Approved: Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Discussion on – 17 Main Street: (due to Peter Griswold being in attendance) The house was never completed after being approved by the Commission. It is now owned by someone else who will finish the project. Please check your project file to see if the specific colors were noted: burgundy, white and gray, placement of colors will be placed as shown on original diagram. It would need to come back to the board. The painting will be done next year. Item #2 – 46 Main Street/Jumpin Jax – (Langendoerfer) – Signage Applicant is back to explain why the original proposal in January 2015 was not adhered to as the applicant submitted the wrong design to their sign maker. The original design is more expensive than CITY OF CORTLAND – SEPTEMBER 8, 2015 HISTORIC/ARCHITECTURAL BOARD the signs currently made. There were three signs in front widow panels. The change of “we deliver” and the chicken on the side window is preferred. The applicant prefers not to fix error due to the cost. Decision of Commission: A motion was made by Comm. Dineen to allow the existing sign which was not the original, remain if it was in compliance with the 25% of window space. If it is not then it will need a variance. Motion by: Comm. Dineen Seconded by: Comm. Kane Approved: Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Minutes of August 11, 2015: a motion was made by Comm. Dineen and was seconded by Comm. Stock to approve the minutes as amended. Motion by: Comm. Dineen Seconded by: Comm. Kane Approved: Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 New Business/Old Business: “The Beach House Mall” – sign has been removed. This was an issue at a prior meeting. “The Bagel Shop” – is still in violation – Per Paul M. his landlord will not allow him to put a ½’’ round strip placed down the center of the 5 1/2’’board, end to end and paint the sign beige “Vienna” color. Regarding the tables in front of the store – it may be a hazard for people walking due to placement of them. The mailbox is still in front of “Wild Ginger” and the doors at 45 Main Street are still in need of maintenance. It was noted by Comm. Kane that the window display was sloppy and not very appealing. This is not regulated by the Historic Comm. However worth mentioning. Adjournment: Motion by: Comm. Stock Seconded by: Comm. Kane Approved: Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 CITY OF CORTLAND – SEPTEMBER 8, 2015 HISTORIC/ARCHITECTURAL BOARD I, LINDA KLINE, CHAIRPERSON OF THE HISTORIC AND/OR ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF THE CITY OF CORTLAND, NY, DO HEREBY CERTIFY THAT SAID RESOLUTION(S) WERE ADOPTED AT A MEETING OF THE HISTORIC AND/OR ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF THE CITY OF CORTLAND, NY, HELD ON THE 8th DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 2015. ______________________________ LINDA KLINE, CHAIRPERSON CITY OF CORTLAND – SEPTEMBER 8, 2015
