CITY OF CORTLAND LANDSCAPE AND DESIGN COMMISSION Minutes - May 12, 2021 Zoom meeting at 4:00 p.m. Members Present (Zoom): Mike Dexter (Chair), Paul Paradine, Diane Batzing Approve March 10, 2021 Minutes: Comm. Paradine, 1st; Comm. Dexter, 2nd May 2021 Tree Planting Planning • Nic has had a few trees removed so we will be able to proceed with planting at those sites. • Jim Maloney and Tim Ticknor (Nelson) will come to the Water Works to excavate the root lares ahead of planting. • Following the UFPO markings, Comms. Dexter and Batzing will mark the planting sites for each of the tree locations. Property owner suggestions will be taken into consideration. Recent Tree Concerns/Notes • One of the three serviceberries planted in 2020 became uprooted and will be replaced with another serviceberry this year. Other • John Graham has delivered the 2020 Tree City USA and this year’s Arbor Day materials, including our 14th year of Tree City designation attachment for the plaque at City Hall and the sticker for the City entrance sign.
