CITY OF CORTLAND LANDSCAPE AND DESIGN COMMISSION Minutes - January 10, 2024 4:00 p.m. at City Hall - Mayor’s Conference Room Present: Mike Dexter (chair), Theresa Quail, Diane Batzing, Approve November 8, 2023 Minutes: 1st, Comm. Dexter; 2nd, Comm. Quail Spring 2024 Tree Planting Program Planning • Three Accolade elm trees are still available. Comm. Dexter will take an application to the Home Towne Studios and Conference Center that expressed an interest. NYS-DEC Inventory and Management Plan Grant Award • We will need to wait until the City receives of icial paperwork before considering which of the three applicants to accept for the work. Ongoing expenses will need to be reviewed. At that time we may invite representatives to present their proposals. NYS-DEC Ash Tree Management Grant Application Status • Comm. Batzing is working with Rich Cunningham of Thoma Development Associates to complete Cortland’s application. We are pursuing tree removal and replanting quotes. Commissioners would like to make tree replacements mandatory with each removal. • Commissioners discussed potential partnerships and community outreach sources, application requirements. Recent Tree Concerns/Notes — None noted Other • We will inquire about an EPA tree funding opportunity, an In lation Reduction Act project.
