DPW Board of Commissioners’ Meeting, Tuesday 12/9/14 NYS Armory Building, 25 Wheeler Ave Official minutes recorded by N. Dovi Meeting called to order by Chris Bistocchi, Public Works Superintendent at 6:30 PM In attendance: Deputy Superintendent Nick Dovi Members : M. Doughty, P. O’Mara, R. Teeter, A. Withers, C. Kostuk, S. Pearsall, K. VanGorder Approval of minutes from previous meeting of 10/14/14 Motion by A. Withers, 2nd by M. Doughty Approved unanimously Old Business: None New Business: 1. Request by 4th Ward Alderperson John Bennett to restrict parking + 25 feet east (from the current restriction) along the Northern curb line of Tompkins Street at the Tompkins Street and Pearl Street intersection The reason for this is to give better sight distance for cars entering Tomplins Street from Pearl Street. Discussion: S. Pearsall asks who requested it and should these types of changes have required parameters like a petition. P. O’Mara – No petition needed when the issue at hand is a safety concern. C. Kostuk requests accident information from the Police Department prior to review of these situations. Tabled until January 2015 meeting Motion by R. Teeter All in favor 2. Year in Review Discussion: General procedures and policies possible improvements, functionality of group merger of the Boards, etc. P. O’Mara – Armory meeting site is better. R. Teeter – Pull boxes, removal progress, if any? M. Doughty – Grievance schedule biannually is sufficient. Extra items for discussion: Main Street trash problems - Currently cleaned up by DPW staff - Permitting garbage corral and fees - Fine of violators Casella Haulers - Concerns with debris left in the roadway. - Not mindful of messes - Cancel contract?
