Department of Public Works Board Meeting Tuesday June 9, 2015 Members Present: P. O’Mara, M. Doughty, S. Pearsall, R. Teeter Others: Superintendent Chris Bistocchi, Deputy Superintendent Nic Dovi Meeting called to order at 6:32pm by P. O’Mara Approval of the Minutes from meeting on April 14, 2015 Motion by R. Teeter Second by S. Pearsall All in favor – Approved unanimously No Old Business. New Business: 1. Brief discussion with all members in regards to summer work projects and schedule. Read through outline provided by Superintendent Bistocchi. 2. Discussion on letter to be drafter to the Fire Commission to discuss pull boxes, parking issues associated with the freestanding units, total number working and not working throughout the City. S. Pearsall wanted to know how many fires or crimes were specifically reported on these units over the last few years with the influx of cell phones. 3. Discussion of adding a Stop Sign at the T intersection of Garfield Street and Pomeroy. Noted: That a non-legislated Stop Sign had been up in that intersection for quite some time before it was damaged in an accident. All members thought that it would be confusing to motorists to not legislate one. Motion by: S. Pearsall Second by: P. O’Mara All in favor – Approved unanimously 4. Discussion on adding Deaf Child signage on Rickard Street as per the request of Dr. Mastrucchi. Motion by: M. Doughty Second by: R. Teeter All in favor – Approved unanimously 5. Discussion in regards to the removal of the traffic signal in the intersection of Elm Street and Greenbush. The obsolete poles are becoming an ongoing issue; recently the lights are leaving in so much tractor trailers are striking the signal heads. A temporary strap has been installed to pull the signals up to the required height but won’t last long. Accident information has been provided by Police Department and discussed. Also, approximate cost to repair. Motion by: S. Pearsall Second by: R. Teeter All in favor of removal and the implementation of a four way stop intersection. Meeting adjourned at 7:32pm Motion by: S.
