Department of Public Works Board Meeting Tuesday December 8th, 2020 Via-Zoom Minutes Members Present: M. Doughty, K. VanGorder, Mike Urtz, B. Stark, P. O’Mara, Angela Gallatly, Mary Lou Bordwell Others Present: Superintendent- C. Bistocchi Deputy Superintendent- N. Dovi Meeting called to order at 6:37 PM by P. O’mara Approval of minutes from the DPW Board meeting from September 8th, 2020 Motion to accept: First by M. Doughty Second by Mary Lou Bordwell All in favor: Unanimously Approved Old Business: None New Business: Traffic Control Devices: 1. Discussion on the possibility of changing the intersection of Valley View Drive and the exit from the Cortland Jr/Sr High School to a 3 way stop intersection. Discussion of materials provided by the school district as well as the City Police Department. Discussion of having a third party conduct a full traffic evaluation prior to suggesting changes to the CC. Cost, timing and liability also mentioned. Many members described firsthand knowledge or the traffic configuration at the Cortland JR/Sr High as well as its limitations or shortcomings. Motion to: Table 3 way Stop implementation First K. VanGorder Second by B. Stark All in favor: unanimous Recommendation by board to first conduct an independent traffic study that will reveal safe cost effective options.
