PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE MEETING WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 19TH, 2020 3:30 P.M. Present: Arlene Luebbe, Bill Dorsey, Frank Sommerkamp, Ed Wise, and Carol Sprinkle. Absent: Genie Wambaugh and Mark Townsend. Mayor Paul Meier and Tim Williams attended the meeting. Resident Jim Kuehne also attended the meeting. Ms. Luebbe called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m. and opened the meeting by asking those present to stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Chairman Luebbe then asked members to introduce themselves to new member Carol Sprinkle. Approval of the Minutes Motion was made by Mr. Dorsey and seconded by Mr. Wise to approve the January 15th, 2020 minutes as presented. All voted in favor of the motion to approve the minutes. Old Business A. Update on Turkeyfoot Road Mayor Meier reported that the Governor’s proposed Road Budget for the next biennium budget did not contain additional funding for Turkeyfoot Road. However, the City continues to work closely with our State Representatives to ensure funding for the next step in the process, right of way acquisition and utility relocation. Resident Jim Kuehne read a recent email from Representative Kim Banta providing an update on the project from KYTC. Mayor Meier will keep the residents abreast of any new information on the project as we receive it from KYTC. B. Kenton Lands Road Distribution Building Update Ed Wise reported that the project is nearing completion. He has noted that no HVAC has been placed on the building so far, nor and electric feed to the building. However, he has seen propane tanks on site and it appears there is work occurring in the interior of the building. Staff Reports A. Summer 2020 street and resurfacing projects. Mr. Williams stated that the Lookout Farm Drive and Claiborne Court street reconstruction project has been advertised. Bids will be receveid in early March, and an award recommendation made at the March 12th Council meeting. 1 The bids for the Chancellor Drive paving and curb replacement project will be advertised on Friday, February 28th. Bids will open on March 11th, and we hope to have a recommendation to City Council for the March 12th Council meeting. Both projects will begin after July 1st, 2020. B. City Building Repairs Mr. Williams stated he will be meeting with Trisco Construction for the exterior building repair work the last week in February. Work will likely begin sometime in March. New Business No new business was brought up at the meeting by the committee members or City staff. Adjournment Ms. Luebbe announced that the Public Works Committee will meet again on Wednesday, March 18th at 3:30 pm. With no further business before the Committee, Ms. Luebbe adjourned the meeting at 4:18 pm. 2
