used to pave and cap old subdivision streets. As we close-out the year, these

a. Ordinance amending §14-705 of the Crossville Municipal Code
pertaining to tree removal
The Tree Board and City Arborist requested that the Crossville Municipal Code be
amended regarding tree removal to further define dead or dying trees and the need to
have them removed in a timely manner when they create a hazard. The current
ordinance does not allow the City to compel their removal.
A discussion was held on the proposed ordinance. It will be amended to clarify that it
would only apply to trees that affect public property and rights-of-way. City Attorney
Will Ridley clarified that State law allows trees to be cut, when required, and liens
placed on the property so that the City can recover costs.
A motion was made by Council Member Scot Shanks, seconded by Mayor
James Mayberry, that the ordinance amending § 14-705 be passed on first

Aye: 4- Council Member Pamala Harris, Council Member Danny Wyatt, Council
