Main Crossville, TN 38555 Minutes Tuesday, June 2, 2020 6:00 PM Conference Room 424 Call for Special Meeting Call for Special Meeting Minutes June 2, 2020 Call to Order The City Council for the City of Crossville met in special session following its monthly work session on Tuesday, June 2 at Crossville City Hall. Mayor James Mayberry was present and presiding. He called the meeting to order at 6:53 p.m. Roll Call Present 4 - Council Member Rob Harrison, Mayor Pro-tem Art Gernt, Council Member Scot Shanks, and Mayor James Mayberry Absent 1 - Council Member J. H. Graham Others present were City Manager Greg Wood, City Attorney Will Ridley, City Clerk Valerie Hale, Jessie Brooks, Lee Lawson, Cheryl Duncan, Tim Begley, Scott Humphrey, Jim Young, and Fred Houston. Ordinances on First Reading a. Ordinance adopting the FY2020-21 budget (In Title Only) The budget must be passed on three readings by June 30. A public hearing is scheduled for the June 9 meeting. A copy of the proposed budget was presented. A motion was made by Mayor James Mayberry, seconded by Mayor Pro-tem Art Gernt, to approve first reading of the ordinance (in title only) adopting the FY2020-21 budget, including a 5 cent property tax increase. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 4- Council Member Rob Harrison, Mayor Pro-tem Art Gernt, Council Member Scot Shanks and Mayor James Mayberry Absent: 1- Council Member J. H. Graham b. Ordinance adopting the FY2020-21 tax rate (In Title Only) The ordinance setting a tax rate for FY2020-21 needs to be passed on 3 readings by June 30. The current certified tax rate is $0.5905. A motion was made by Mayor James Mayberry, seconded by Council Member Scot Shanks, to approve (in title only) first reading of the ordinance adopting the FY2020-21 tax rate of $0.6405 per $100 of assessed value. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 4- Council Member Rob Harrison, Mayor Pro-tem Art Gernt, Council Member Scot Shanks and Mayor James Mayberry Absent: 1- Council Member J. H.
