City of Crystal Lake Economic Development Committee October 29, 2024 – 8:00 a.m. Municipal Complex – City Council Chambers Conference Room Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 8:03 a.m. by Mr. Fowler. Roll Call/Attendance Members Fowler, Peterson, Reece, Ormsby, Leech and Dunlop were present. Heather Maieritsch, Economic Development Manager was also present. Members Malpica and Affrunti was absent. Approve Minutes from the August 26th 2024 Meeting Motion to approve by Reece/Dunlop. All aye by voice vote. Public Participation Not applicable Clearly Crystal Lake Update Ms. Maieritsch said that Think Big Go Local continues to work on the Clearly Crystal Lake campaign to continue to keep the content fresh and interesting. Business Anniversaries and Business Tours City staff will reach out to Alpha Graphics and Induction Heat Treating to see about setting up a tour. Mr. Fowler said that he would like to present LaRosita and KD Market with a Community Investment Award on behalf of the City for their investment in the community. The committee agreed and City staff will look at a date in 2025 to present the awards. Organization reports: Downtown Crystal Lake Ms. Ormbsy said Downtown is hopping and there is excitement about the new Spice & Tea Exchange opening before the holidays on Williams Street. Ladies Night Out was rebranded and was a success. Luminary Nights in the month of December is currently being planned and will add a festive holiday vibe to encourage shoppers into the Downtown on Thursday nights in December. They are also working on a new Chriskindle Market in Brink Street Market area on December 5, 12 and 19. Mr. Leech asked for an update about the signage for parking in the Downtown and City staff said they would look into it and get back to him. Crystal Lake Chamber The Chamber Expo is on 11/16 and have sold all of the available booths. The Chamber will be hosting the State of the Community event on 2/14 and the Annual Dinner will be held on 5/8. McEDC N/A City of Crystal Lake The City continues to actively promote Water’s Edge and other commercial properties. We are seeing significant interest in both our housing and commercial development. Economic Development Committee February 22, 20212 Page 2 Mr. Reece said that Manufacturing Pathways held a roundtable event at MCC and that there is significant focus and effort to create awareness of opportunities for manufactures and their employees to create a life here in McHenry County.
