City of Crystal Lake Economic Development Committee June 17, 2025 – 8:00 a.m. Municipal Complex – City Council Chambers Conference Room Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 8:02 a.m. by Mr. Fowler. Roll Call/Attendance Members Fowler, Affrunti, Malpica, Peterson, Ormbsy, Reece and Dunlop were present. Heather Maieritsch, Economic Development Manager was also present. Member Leech was absent. Approve Minutes from the April 22nd 2025 Meeting Motion to approve by Malpica/Affrunti. All aye by voice vote. Public Participation Not applicable Clearly Crystal Lake Update Ms. Maieritsch said that Think Big Go Local continues to work on the Clearly Crystal Lake summer campaigns to continue to promote Crystal Lake businesses. Business Anniversaries and Business Tours City staff will work with the Crystal Lake Chamber this May to recognize them for their Anniversary on 8/5 at the City Council meeting at 7pm. City staff will also work to set up a tour with Induction Heat Treating. Organization reports: Downtown Crystal Lake Garden Party weather was not great, Downtown will no longer move forward with this event. The Downtown Organization has received request for non-profits to partner and put on events, the Downtown Organization is now working on policy. The Pride event was a huge success. The next event coming up is the Disability event. Additionally the first Wine Walk scheduled for June 28th from 2-6pm sold out with 300 tickets sold and 13 participating locations. Crystal Lake Chamber Catherine shared the Chamber had a successful golf outing at the Crystal Lake Country Club. The Independence Day Parade planning is in full swing and participation numbers are greater than last year. Excited to return to the normal parade route and there will be a lot of new paid acts in the parade. McEDC As part of the City’s role on the MCEDC Board, Crystal Lake is the municipal representative for the EDGE Group made up of municipalities and Chamber leaders that meet quarterly to collaborate on County initiatives. Recently we met to explore incubator opportunities. The group is exploring what it would take to bring a Test Kitchen Incubator to McHenry County. City of Crystal Lake The City continues to actively promote and market Water’s Edge and other commercial properties throughout Crystal Lake. The City will be rolling out a new Quarterly Business Newsletter for the business community and the Bi-Annual Economic Development report will be coming out at the end of the month recapping activity within the last six months.
