Hon. Mark D. Boughton, Mayor Common Council Members Mayor Mark D. Boughton called the Special Common Council Meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2007. Present were Council Members: Shay Nagarsheth, James H. Johnson, Charles Trombetta, Michael J. Calandrino, Fred Visconti, Benjamin Chianese, John J. Esposito, Thomas J. Saadi, Joseph M. Cavo, Paul T. Rotello, Jane Diggs, Mary Teicholz, Robert F. Arconti, Philip Curran, Jack Knapp, Warren M. Levy Robert T. Riley, Gregg Seabury and Colleen A. Stanley Absent were Council Members: Louise McMahon and Duane E. Perkins (out of Town on Business) PRESENT: 19, ABSENT: 2 Also present were: Robert J. Yamin, Corporation Counsel; Laszlo L. Pinter, Deputy Corporation Counsel and Eric Gottschalk, Parliamentarian PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG & PRAYER: David St. Hilaire, Finance Director, led everyone in the room in the Pledge of Allegiance. Councilwoman Mary Teicholz led everyone in the room in a prayer. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION: There were no members of the public that requested to address the Common Council. Councilwoman Louise McMahon arrived making the attendance 20 Present and 1 Absent NOTICE OF THE SPECIAL MEETING – There will be a Special Meeting of the Common Council on December 3, 2007 at 6:30 P.M. in the Common Council Chambers in City Hall to act on the items below. Councilman Cavo moved to accept the call and return of service. The motion was seconded Councilwoman Teicholz. Motion carried unanimously. 1. RESOLUTION — Regular Meeting Dates of the Common Council The Clerk read the Resolution. The regular monthly Common Council Meetings for 2008-2009 to be held every first Tuesday of the month except for January 2008 (New Year’s Day) to be held on January 3, 2008, February 2008 (Primary/Referendum) to be held on February 6, 2008, September 2008 (Labor Day) to be held on September 3, 2008, November 2008 (Election Day) to be held on November 6, 2008 and November 2009 (Election Day) to be held on November 5, 2009 Councilman Cavo moved to adopt the Resolution. The motion was seconded by Councilman Seabury. Motion passed by unanimously. 2. RESOLUTION – Special Meetings of the Common Council The Clerk read the Resolution regarding the procedures for calling Special Meetings of the Council. -1- Page 1 of 2 Councilman Saadi moved to adopt the Resolution. The motion was seconded by Councilman Cavo. Motion passed by unanimously. 3. Election of Common Council President Mayor Boughton declared the floor open for nominations. Councilman Calandrino moved to place in nomination the name of Joe Cavo, for Common Council President. The motion was seconded by Councilman Johnson. Councilman Seabury moved that nominations be closed. The motion was seconded by Councilman Johnson. Motion to close carried unanimously. The vote on the motion to elect Joe Cavo as Common Council President carried unanimously. Councilman Seabury moved that the Special Common Council Meeting be adjourned.
