SPECIAL MEETING 27-Feb-2012 Honorable Mayor Mark D. Boughton Members of the City Council Honorable Mayor, Mark D. Boughton, called the meeting to order at 8:42 pm in the Council Chambers. Present were Council Members: Philip Curran, Michael J. Haddad Sr., Jack Knapp, Warren Levy, Gregg Seabury, Colleen Stanley, Don Taylor, Joseph Cavo, Thomas Saadi, Fred Visconti, Andrew Wetmore Peter Nero (entered at 7:13pm), Duane Perkins, Benjamin Chianese, Paul T. Rotello, Joseph Scozzafava and Mary Teicholz PRESENT: 17 ABSENT: 3 Vacancy: 1 Phillip Colla was out of town on family business. Michael Halas and Shay Nagarsheth were working. Jean Natale, Legislative Assistant, Robert J. Yamin, Corporation Counsel; Laszlo Pinter, Deputy Corporation Counsel and David St. Hilaire, Director of Finance, were also present. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG & PRAYER: David. St. Hilaire led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance. Council Member Curran led everyone in the room in a prayer. PUBLIC SPEAKING Ken Gucker, 89 Padanaram Road, spoke on item #2. Tom Devine, Downtown Business/Property Owner, spoke on item #2. Public speaking ended at 8:45pm. 1. Fill Vacancy on City Council The City Clerk read into the record a letter from the Republican Town Committee nominating Stephen Darcy of 26 Rose Lane #20, to fill the vacancy on the City Council in the Second Ward. Mayor Boughton thanked Charles Trombetta for his service to the city. Council Member Seabury moved to accept the recommendation from the Republican Town Committee and appoint Mr. Stephen Darcy to fill the vacant seat for the second ward. The motion was seconded by Council Member Teicholz. Vote, all in favor, motion unanimously approved. 2. Sale of City Property (13 Acres) – Old Ridgebury Road President Cavo stated that there had been a lot of well thought out comments made during the public hearing and therefore, he wished to have additional time to consider the sale of city property. To that end, President Cavo made a motion which was seconded by Council Member Saadi to table the consideration of the sale of City Property located on Old Ridgebury Road to the March 6, 2012 City Council Meeting. Vote, all in favor, motion unanimously approved. As there was no further business, Council Member Saadi moved to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Council Member Wetmore. Vote, all in favor, motion unanimously approved. The meeting adjourned at 8:50pm.
