SPECIAL ORGANIZATIONAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING December 6, 2021- 8:00 PM Honorable Mayor, Dean Esposito, called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE & PRAYER The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Councilman Cavo. Councilman DiGilio led all in prayer. ROLL CALL: COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Buzaid, Cavo, Eriquez, Esposito, Fox, DiGilio, Rotello, Visconti, Halas, Levy, Stanley, Masi, Henry, Knapp, Britton, Santos, Perkins, Chianese, Cammisa and Molinaro. COUNCIL MEMBERS ABSENT: Palma PRESENT: 20, ABSENT: 1. ALSO PRESENT: Robert J. Yamin, Corporation Counsel; Les Pinter, Deputy Corporation Counsel; David St. Hilaire, Finance Director, and Jean Natale, Legislative Assistant. NOTICE OF THE SPECIAL MEETING – There will be a Special Meeting of the City Council on Monday, December 6, 2021 at 8:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers in City Hall to act on the ORGANIZATIONAL items below. A motion was made by Councilman Digilio, and was seconded by Councilman Cammisa, to return to service. The motion carried unanimously. PUBLIC INPUT AGENDA 1. Election of Council President The Mayor announced that the floor was open for nominations for Council President. A motion was made by Councilman Molinaro, and was seconded by Councilman Britton, to nominate Councilman Santos. A motion was made by Councilman Cavo, and was seconded by Councilman Levy, to nominate Councilman DiGilio. The Mayor asked for any other nominations-hearing none—he closed the nominations and called for a roll call vote. Councilman DiGilio had 13 votes and Councilman Santos had 7 votes. DiGilio thanked everyone for their support. 2. RESOLUTION- Regular Meeting Dates of the Council Councilman Chianese questioned why the meeting was moved to November 2, 2022. He noted they never moved the meeting in the past. Mr. Pinter responded he does not know why the date was moved. Councilman DiGilio commented the meeting was moved due to the Halloween holiday. The caucus meeting will be held on Tuesday and the City Council meeting is scheduled on Wednesday. Mayor Esposito commented it is more convenient for Council and safer for the public to have the meeting scheduled on November 2, 2022. Mr. Pinter responded to Councilman Perkins regarding scheduling conflicts last term. He noted several of the scheduling conflicts were around the popular holidays, such as New Years and Labor Day. Councilman Rotello stated he is in favor of the proposed schedule. Councilman Buzaid noted 4,500 people were traveling on Deer Hill Avenue during Halloween. Councilman Visconti stated he is in favor of having the City Council meeting on November 2, 2022. A motion was made by Councilman DiGilio, and was seconded by Councilman Rotello, to receive the communication and adopt the resolution for the regular meeting dates of the City Council for the 21-23 term as presented. The motion carried unanimously. 3. RESOLUTION - Special Meetings of the Council A motion was made by Councilman DiGilio, and was seconded by Councilman Cavo, to receive the communication and adopt the resolution regarding special meetings of the City Council as presented. The motion carried unanimously. ADJOURNMENT Copies of Agenda Items are available in the Legislative Assistant’s Office A motion was made by Councilman Cavo, and was seconded by Councilman Rotello, to adjourn the City Council Meeting.
