CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION Meeting MINUTES February 9, 2022 11:30 a.m. Via Videoconference Roll Call: The meeting was called to order by Chair Shay Nagarsheth and Commissioner Andrew Wetmore. Also present were Denise Janey, Chief Examiner; Richard Thode, Fire Chief; William Lounsbury, Assistant Chief; Patrick Ridenhour, Chief of Police; Shaun McColgan, Deputy Police Chief; Dianne Rosemark, Assistant Corporation Counsel; Andrew Trechetta; and Christopher Messina. Minutes: Review and accept previous meeting’s minutes Motion by Commissioner Wetmore, seconded by Chair Nagarsheth, to accept the previous meeting's minutes. Motion carried unanimously. Personnel Status: Status Change: None New Hires: Ms. Janey noted seven new Firefighters: Jake Czelada, Bernardino Urbano, Noam Kessing, Bailey Studer, Sveinn Bragason, Martin Stahl and Kyle Lindsay. Promotions: Ms. Janey noted several promotions: Michelle Stabile, Detective with the Danbury Police Department; Christina Buonocore, Detective with the Danbury Police Department; Michael Russotti, Detective with the Danbury Police Department; Alex Relyea, Sergeant with the Danbury Police Department; Hector Rodriguez, Sergeant with the Danbury Police Department; and Khai Tran, Communications & Graphic Design Specialist with the Danbury Library. Retirements: Ms. Janey noted two retirements: Marc Scocozza, Danbury Police Department; and Colleen Covens, Danbury Library. Resignations: None New Business: Request to Remove Candidates from the Eligibility List: - Andrew Treschetta Motion by Commissioner Wetmore, seconded by Chair Nagarsheth, to enter into executive session. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Commissioner Wetmore, seconded by Chair Nagarsheth, to remove Andrew Treschetta from the Eligibility List. Motion carried unanimously. - Christopher Messina Motion by Commissioner Wetmore, seconded by Chair Nagarsheth, to enter into executive session. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Commissioner Wetmore, seconded by Chair Nagarsheth, to remove Officer and candidate Christopher Messina from the Eligibility List. Motion carried unanimously. Qualification of Applicants: - Children’s Program Coordinator The Commission agreed to disqualify person id ending in 433. Motion by Commissioner Wetmore, seconded by Chair Nagarsheth, to qualify the following individuals for the Childhood Program Coordinator position with the person id ending in 985, 345, 738, 781, 053 and 031. Motion carried unanimously. - Truck Driver Motion by Commissioner Wetmore, seconded by Chair Nagarsheth, to qualify the following individuals for the position of Truck Driver with the person id ending in 436, 712, 132, 386, 945 and 818. Motion carried unanimously. Request to extend Police Captain and Police Lieutenant Eligibility List (s): Ms. Janey requested the exams be extended for one year. Motion by Commissioner Wetmore, seconded by Chair Nagarsheth, to extend the Eligibility List for Police Captain and Police Lieutenant for an additional one year. Motion carried unanimously. Request to Approve New Position and Job Description:  - Assistant Director of Permit Coordination Ms. Janey noted the Director is requesting approval for the new position. The position will be considered a promotional opportunity. Motion by Commissioner Wetmore, seconded by Chair Nagarsheth, to approve the new position for the Assistant Director of Permit Coordination. Motion carried unanimously. Certification of Eligibility List: - Epidemiologist Ms. Janey noted the City received five qualified applicants for the Epidemiologist position. To note, three applicants participated in the oral exam and only two applicants passed. Motion by Commissioner Wetmore, seconded by Chair Nagarsheth, to certify the Eligibility List for the position of Epidemiologist. Motion carried unanimously.
