CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION Meeting MINUTES December 14, 2022 10:00 A.M. Via Videoconference (ZOOM) Roll Call: The meeting was called to order by Chair Susan Ward. Also present were Commissioner Rick Rogers, Commissioner Bruce Bennett, Nelly Espinal, Acting Chief Examiner, Ginny Werner, Director of Human Resources, Christina Henry, HR Generalist, Patrick Ridenhour, Chief of Police, and Dianne Rosemark, Assistant Corporation Counsel. Minutes: November 30, 2022 and Special Meeting December 7, 2022 Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, to accept the meeting minutes dated November 9,2022 and November 17, 2022. Motion carried unanimously. Personnel Status: New Hires: Vanessa Hernandez- Clerk Typist II Kenton Higgons- Staff Engineer Michael Brown, William Gillespie, Kevin Jarrin, Justin Orlansky, Jeffrey Pichardo, Justyn Revan, Angel Rodriguez, Terrance Lott Jr- Police Officers Retirements: Brian Gantert (Police Officer), Matthew Casazza (Police Sergeant), Paul Barriere (Truck Driver) , David Newland (Building Inspector / Building Official) Resignations/Terminations: Kevin Burke (Public Buildings / Mechanic III), Christopher Dennis (Police Department / Officer) New Business: Request Removal of Candidates– Entry Level Police Officer Eligibility List Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, to move into executive session to discuss candidate Max Bagnuolo’s request for removal from the eligibility list. Motion carried unanimously. Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, to remove Max Bagnuolo from the Entry Level Police Officer Eligibility List. Motion carried unanimously. Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, to move into executive session to discuss candidate Joseph Grippo’s request for removal from the eligibility list. Motion carried unanimously. Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, to remove Joseph Grippo from the Entry Level Police Officer Eligibility List. Motion carried unanimously. Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, to remove Robert Killackey III from the Entry Level Police Officer Eligibility List. Motion carried unanimously. Qualification of Applications: - Truck Driver Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, to accept the following applicants for the Truck Driver position with applicant id's 25172978, 45771735, 51972457, 51534265, 45433594, 45688771, 52144319, 43412165, 48711471, 51569260, 51923393, 5525974, 43073248, 51539392, and 51748653. All others were rejected due to not meeting the minimum requirements. Motion carried unanimously. Qualification of Applications: - Certified Police Officer Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, to accept all applicants for the Certified Police Officer position. Candidates with applicant id’s as follows: 590638,590794, 591025, 590694, 590953, 590717, 589768, 590591, 591298, and 591114. Motion carried unanimously. Request to add an item to the agenda Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, to add an item to the agenda. Motion carried unanimously. Request to approve the 2023 Civil Service Commission Meeting Dates Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, to accept the 2023 Civil Service commission meeting calendar.
