CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION Meeting MINUTES March 8, 2023 10:00 A.M. Via Videoconference (ZOOM) Roll Call: The meeting was called to order by Chair Susan Ward. Also present were Commissioner Rick Rogers, Nelly Espinal, Chief Examiner, and Ginny Werner, Director of Human Resources, members from the public Kenson Chalestin and Miguel Ocasio. Later into the meeting, Deputy Police Chief Michael Sturdevant and Christina Henry, HR Generalist joined the meeting. Minutes: Meeting February 22nd, 2023 Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward, to accept the meeting minutes dated February 22nd, 2023. Motion carried unanimously. Personnel Status: Promotions: Dora Medina- Clerk Typist II, Kamyla Correa- Clerk Typist II New Business: Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward, to add two items to the agenda; candidate removal from the Detective Police Officer list and request to remove candidate from the Clerk Typist II eligibility list. Motion carried unanimously. Request Removal of Candidate– Detective Police Officer Eligibility List Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward, to remove candidate 46860507 from the Detective Police Officer Eligibility List as this candidate is no longer an employee of the Danbury Police Department. Motion carried unanimously Request Removal of Candidate– Clerk Typist II Eligibility List Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward, to remove candidate 52599676 from Clerk Typist II Eligibility List as this candidate requested to be removed. Motion carried unanimously. Qualification of Applications: - Deputy Fire Marshal_ Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward, to accept all four applicants for the position of Deputy Fire Marshal: Candidates with applicant id’s as follows: 44570198, 52907249, 47093292, and 47152658. Motion carried unanimously. Qualification of Applications: - Assistant Director of Finance_ Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward, to accept the following applicants for the position of Assistant Director of Finance: 39330494, 9133363, and 50335084. The following applicants were rejected; 13309449, 52946878, 528810419, 9419851, 52111981, 52915929, 52914422, 52862422, and 53048312. Motion carried unanimously. Request Removal of Candidates– Entry Level and Certified Police Officer Eligibility Lists Chair Susan Ward offered the candidates being considered for removal from the Entry Level Police Officer and the Certified Police Officer eligibility lists, the opportunity to enter into executive session, should they wish to. None of the candidates requested to move into executive session. Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward, to remove applicant 212047- Kenson Charlestin from the Entry Level Police Officer Eligibility List. Motion carried unanimously. Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward, to remove applicant 603953- Miguel Ocasio from the Certified Police Officer Eligibility List. Motion carried unanimously Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward, to remove applicant 604535- Josue Torres the Certified Police Officer Eligibility List. Motion carried unanimously Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward, to remove applicant 607043- Nicholas Cosmo, as he requested to be removed from the Certified Police Officer Eligibility List.
