CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES July 31, 2023 2:00 P.M. Via Videoconference (ZOOM) Roll Call: The meeting was called to order by Chair Susan Ward; also present were Commissioner John Neumuller, Nelly Espinal, Chief Examiner, Christina Norman, HR Generalist, Ginny Werner, Director of Human Resources, Aleyda Martinez, HR Assistant, Assistant Corporation Counsel Dianne Rosemark, Fire Chief Richard Thode, Director of Finance Dan Garrick, Police Chief Patrick Ridenhour, and member of the public Cameron Priola. Minutes: Meeting July 12th, 2023 Motion made by Commissioner Neumuller and seconded by Chair Ward, to accept the meeting minutes dated Wednesday, July 12th, 2023 Motion carried unanimously. Personnel Status: New Hires Vincenza Genovese – Technology Program Assistant Paul Maldonado Jr. & Abo Niang – Police Officer New Business: Request Removal of Candidate- Entry Level Police Officer List Motion made by Commissioner Neumuller, seconded by Chair Ward to remove candidate #140762, Juan Orozco from the eligibility list. Motion carried unanimously. Request Removal of Candidate- Entry Level Firefighter Assistant Corporation Counsel Dianne Rosemark explained the option of going into executive session, in which the recording is stopped and discussion with the commission not be made public or stay in open session and the discussion be made public. Motion made by Commissioner Neumuller, seconded by Chair Ward, to move into executive session to discuss candidate Cameron Priola’s request for removal from the Firefighter eligibility list. Motion carried unanimously. Motion made by Commissioner Neumuller, seconded by Chair Ward to return from executive session and start recording again. Motion carried unanimously. Motion made by Commissioner Neumuller, seconded by Chair Ward to keep Candidate #45043639, Cameron Priola on the current Firefighter Eligibility list and be considered for employment when a position becomes available. Motion carried unanimously. Candidate Request removal- Clerk Typist II Eligibility List Motion made by Commissioner Neumuller, seconded by Chair Ward to remove candidate #52276968 John Hoddinott, as the applicant requested to be removed from the eligibility list. Motion carried unanimously. Qualification of Applications: - Assistant Director of Finance Budget & Grants Motion made by Chair Ward, seconded by Commissioner Neumuller, to reject the following application; 53080274, applicant is not a City of Danbury employee, therefore not eligible for this promotional opportunity, and to accept applicants 54288950 and 46386891. Motion carried unanimously. Certification of Eligibility List – Tree Worker Climber/Operator Motion made by Commissioner Neumuller, seconded by Chair Ward, certify the Tree Worker Climber/Operator Eligibility list with an expiration date of July 31st, 2024. Motion carried unanimously. Certification of Eligibility List – Payroll Supervisor Motion made by Commissioner Neumuller, seconded by Chair Ward, certify the Payroll Supervisor Eligibility list with an expiration date of July 31st, 2024. Motion carried unanimously. Motion made by Commissioner Neumuller and seconded by Chair Ward to add an item to the agenda. Motion carried unanimously. A request was made to the Commission to remove the following candidate #19629329, Michelle Laquerre, from the Sanitarian applicant pool for failure to successfully meet the requirements of the position. Motion made by Commissioner Neumuller and seconded by Chair Ward to remove candidate #19629327 from the Sanitarian applicant pool. Motion carried unanimously.
