CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES December 13, 2023 10:00 A.M. Via Videoconference (ZOOM) Roll Call: The meeting was called to order by Chair Susan Ward; also present were Commissioner Rick Rogers, Chief Examiner Nelly Espinal, HR Generalist Christina Norman, HR Assistant Aleyda Martinez, Assistant Finance Director John Kleinhans, Library Director Katie Pearson, and Tax Collector Scott Ferguson. Minutes: Meeting November 30th, 2023. Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to accept the meeting minutes dated November 30th, 2023. Motion carried unanimously. Personnel Status: NONE New Business: Acknowledgement of upgrade- UNIT Assistant position Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to accept the reclassification and upgrade of the UNIT Assistant position. Motion carried unanimously. Acknowledgement of the Civil Service Commission Meeting Dates for 2024 Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to accept the 2024 Civil Service Commission meeting dates. Motion carried unanimously. Applicant Request Removal- Certified Police Officer Eligibility List Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to remove candidate #637476 Brian Levy and candidate #632533 Devin Santiago from the Certified Police Officer Eligibility list as the candidates have requested to be removed from the list. Motion carried unanimously. Request Removal- Mechanic Candidate Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to remove candidate #52667025 Derek Erdman from the Mechanic Eligibility List promulgated on October 18th, 2023. Removal due to candidate being unsuccessful. Motion carried unanimously. Qualification of Applicant: Assistant Tax Collector Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to approve the one applicant candidate #31861171 and that the department head interview be in lieu of testing given the applicant possesses the requirements of the position. Motion carried unanimously Qualification of Applicant: Payroll Supervisor Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to approve the one applicant candidate #46408375 and that the department head interview be in lieu of testing given the applicant possesses the requirements of the position. Motion carried unanimously Qualification of Applicant: Librarian II-Youth Services Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to reject applicant #50597850, as this applicant is not a City of Danbury employee and this is a promotional opportunity and approve candidate #48346031 and that the department head interview be in lieu of testing given the applicant possesses the requirements of the position. Motion carried unanimously Qualification of Applications: Plumbing HVAC Inspector Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to reject all applicants, as they do not meet the requirements of the position.
