CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES January 18, 2024 10:00 A.M. Via Videoconference (ZOOM) Roll Call: The meeting was called to order by Chair Susan Ward; also present were Commissioner Rick Rogers, Chief Examiner Nelly Espinal, HR Assistant Aleyda Martinez, and members of the Fire Department; Jon Mackey, Roger Bohan and Ken Appley. Minutes: Meeting January 3, 2024. Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to accept the meeting minutes dated January 3rd, 2024. Motion carried unanimously. Personnel Status: New Hires Charlie Hernandez – Police Officer Andrew Milano – Truck Driver Promotions Matthew R. Malone and Stephen Hilderbrand - Police Lieutenants Christopher M. Belair, Stephen H. Gruse, and Michael G. Iaquinto – Police Sergeants New Business: Certification of Fire Lieutenant Eligibility List Motion made by Commissioner Rogers and seconded by Chair Ward to certify the Fire Lieutenant eligibility list with an expiration date of January 18, 2025. Motion carried unanimously. Certification of Fire Captain Eligibility List Motion made by Commissioner Rogers and seconded by Chair Ward to certify the Fire Captain eligibility list with an expiration date of January 18, 2025. Motion carried unanimously. Eligibility List Extension: Legal Secretary extend list to February 1, 2025 Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to extend the Legal Secretary eligibility for an additional year with a new expiration date of February 1, 2025. Motion carried unanimously. Candidate Removal- Entry Level Police Officer Eligibility List Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to approve the removal of the following candidates for being non-responsive; candidate #699877 Christian Irizarry and candidate #700014 Kujtim Kodraj. Motion carried unanimously. Qualification of Applications Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to table the qualification of applicants for the position of Library Technical Assistant 2 Civic Engagement & Marketing Coordinator, until the next Civil Service Commission meeting on January 31st, 2024. Motion carried unanimously. Qualification of Applications: Mechanic Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to reject applicant #54274905 and to accept all other applicants; 49096531, 52382761, 53803514, 56179466, and 56304714. Motion carried unanimously. Qualification of Applications: Plumbing HVAC Inspector Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to reject all applicants for lack of requirements; applicants 56204317 and 56220227. Motion carried unanimously. Qualification of Applicant: Payroll Coordinator Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to approve the one applicant candidate #49404642 and that the department head interview be in lieu of testing given the applicant possesses the requirements of the position.
