CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES August 28, 2024 10:00 A.M. Via Videoconference (ZOOM) Roll Call: The meeting was called to order by Chair Susan Ward; also present were Commissioner Rick Rogers, Chief Examiner Nelly Espinal, HR Generalist Christina Norman, HR Assistant Aleyda Martinez, Director of Health Fernanda Carvalho, Library Director Katie Pearson, Police Chief Patrick Ridenhour and Entry Level Police applicant Matthew Sabene. Minutes: Meeting August 14th, 2024 Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to accept the meeting minutes dated August 14th, 2024. Motion carried unanimously. Personnel Status: New Hires: Firefighters – Jonathan Arpai, Gino DeGiorgio, Kyle Hines, John Koukos, Robert Mathew LaRiviere, Anthony Maiette, Shandon Moffat, Michael Plasky, Peter Seifert, Tymothy Sullivan and Christopher James Wihbey Jr. IT Support Specialist I – Emmanuel Atiles and Truck Driver - Theodore Callands III New Business: Candidate Request Removal- Entry Police Officer Eligibility List Chair Ward offered the candidate the option to go into executive session should the candidate not want the discussion regarding the status of their application to be discussed in an open session and on the record. The applicant elected to go into executive session. Motion made by Commission Rogers, and seconded by Chair Ward to go into executive session. Motion carried unanimously. Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to remove candidate #755450 Matthew Sabene from the Entry Level Police Officer eligibility list, as he was deemed unsuccessful. Motion carried unanimously. Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to remove candidate #757869 Farhad Limon from the Entry Level Police Officer eligibility list, as he was deemed unsuccessful. Motion carried unanimously. Removal from the Certified Police Officer Eligibility List Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to remove applicant #610639 Heidy Perez and Candidate #748423 Derli Pena as they have requested to be removed from the Certified Police Officer eligibility list. Motion carried unanimously. Certification of Water Treatment Plant Operator Eligibility List Motion made by Commissioner Rogers and seconded by Chair Ward to certify the Water Treatment Plant Operator eligibility list with an expiration date of August 28th, 2025. Motion carried unanimously. Certification of Mechanic Eligibility List Motion made by Commissioner Rogers and seconded by Chair Ward to certify the Mechanic eligibility list with an expiration date of August 28th, 2025. Motion carried unanimously. Motion carried unanimously. Qualifications of Applications: Truck Driver Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to table the qualifications of the Truck Driver applications to the next Civil Service Commission Meeting on September 12th, 2024.
