CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES October 2, 2024 10:00 A.M. Via Videoconference (ZOOM) Roll Call: The meeting was called to order by Chair Susan Ward; also present were Commissioner Rick Rogers, Chief Examiner Nelly Espinal, Director of Human Resources Ginny Werner, Police Chief Patrick Ridenhour, HR Assistant Aleyda Martinez, Applicant Jennifer Ashby, Applicant Anthony Rongetti, Police Applicant Joseph Grippo, Police Applicant John Saminiego, and Applicant Kenneth Kubisek. Minutes: Meetings September 12th, and Special Meeting September 16th, 2024 Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to accept the meeting minutes from September 12th and the minutes from Special Meeting September 16th, 2024. Hancock Terminations: Firefighters – Nicholas Nunnally & Michael Schenk (Resignations) Deputy Fire Marshal- Tyler Bergemann (Retirement) Drillmaster- Steve Rogers (Retirement) Records Coordinator- Karen Ledan (Retirement) New Business: Candidate Request Removal- Entry Level Police Officer Eligibility List Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to remove applicant #7757557 Liam O’Dwyer and applicant #759237 Geraldo Pereira from the Entry Level Police Officer eligibility list, as they have failed to respond to requests for interviews. Motion carried unanimously. Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to remove candidate #756362 Cecyl Ramirez Marcos from the Entry Level Police Officer eligibility list, as he was deemed unsuccessful. Motion carried unanimously. Chair Ward offered the candidate the option to go into executive session should the candidate not want the discussion regarding the status of his application to be discussed in an open session and on the record. The applicant elected to go into executive session. Motion made by Commission Rogers, and seconded by Chair Ward to go into executive session. Motion carried unanimously. Motion carried unanimously. Motion carried unanimously. Chair Ward offered the applicant the option to go into executive session should the applicant not want the discussion regarding the status of her application to be discussed in an open session and on the record. The applicant elected not to go into executive session. Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to accept the appeal of applicant #59330167 Jennifer Ashby and to be considered for the practical exam process for the position of Truck Driver. Motion carried unanimously. Removal from Firefighter Officer Eligibility List Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to remove candidate #25665092 Joshua LeBrun from the Entry Level Firefighter eligibility list, as he was deemed unsuccessful; interviewed three times and not selected.. Motion carried unanimously. Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to add an item to the agenda; the memo to request a new exam for the position of Truck Driver. Motion carried unanimously. Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to accept the request to hold a new exam for the position of Truck Driver. Motion carried unanimously. Certification of Associate Director of Community Health Eligibility List Motion made by Commissioner Rogers and seconded by Chair Ward to certify the Associate Director of Community Health eligibility list with an expiration date of October 2nd, 2025. Motion carried unanimously. Certification of Maintenance Mechanic III-Electrician Eligibility List Motion made by Commissioner Rogers and seconded by Chair Ward to certify the Maintenance Mechanic III- Electrician eligibility list with an expiration date of October 2nd, 2025. Motion carried unanimously. Certification of Auto Equipment Operator III Eligibility List Motion made by Commissioner Rogers and seconded by Chair Ward to certify the Auto Equipment Operator III eligibility list with an expiration date of October 2nd, 2025. Motion carried unanimously. On the record, that although there was an item on the agenda to certify the eligibility list for the position of Truck Driver, there was no list to certify. Qualifications of Applications: Assistant Zoning Enforcement Officer Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to reject the following applications as they didn’t meet the minimum requirements of the position; 7945666, 53745484, 56220227, 56768932, 59581758, 59687193, and 59755792 and to accept applicant 50451668 as this applicant meets the requirements of the position and that the Department Head interview be in lieu of the oral exam Motion carried unanimously. Extend Eligibility List- Police Lieutenant Motion made by Commissioner Rogers and seconded by Chair Ward to extend the Police Lieutenant eligibility list with an expiration date of October 18th, 2025. Motion carried unanimously. Extend Eligibility List- Deputy Fire Marshal Motion made by Commissioner Rogers and seconded by Chair Ward to extend the Deputy Fire Marshal eligibility list with an expiration date of November 8th, 2025.
