CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES October 17, 2024 1:00 P.M. Via Videoconference (ZOOM) Roll Call: The meeting was called to order by Chair Susan Ward; also present were Commissioner Rick Rogers, Chief Examiner Nelly Espinal, HR Generalist Christina Norman, Director of Human Resources Ginny Werner, HR Assistant Aleyda Martinez, IT Infrastructure Architect David Colon, and applicant Christina Maruffi. Minutes: Meeting October 2nd, 2024 Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to accept the meeting minutes from October 2nd, 2024. Motion carried unanimously. Personnel Status: New Hires: Peter John Harrington – Water Treatment Plant Operator Austin Thomas Britton – Maintenance Mechanic III – Plumber Zachary Adams – Mechanic Terrance Williams, Ryan Murphy, Crystal Manuele, John Ferrara and Gabriel Campos- Police Officers Promotion: Stephen Garcia – Senior Computer Technician New Business: Candidate Request Removal- Entry Level Police Officer Eligibility List Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to remove candidate #759993 Kevin Baez from the Entry Level Police Officer eligibility list, as he was deemed unsuccessful. Motion carried unanimously. Appeal- Assistant Zoning Enforcement Officer Applicant (s) Chair Ward offered the applicant the option to go into executive session should the applicant not want the discussion regarding the status of her application to be discussed in an open session and on the record. The applicant elected not to go into executive session. Motion made by Chair Ward, and seconded by Chair Ward to reject the appeal of applicant #56768932 Christina Maruffi as she lacked the requirements of the position. Chairman Rogers recused himself as he knows the applicant personally. Motion carried unanimously. Certification of Truck Driver Eligibility List Motion made by Commissioner Rogers and seconded by Chair Ward to certify the Truck Driver eligibility list with an expiration date of October 17th, 2025. Motion carried unanimously. Qualifications of Applications: IT Infrastructure Engineer Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to reject the following applications as they didn’t meet the minimum requirements of the position; 51613791, 53745484, 58043870, 58048181, 58435690, 59073313, 59255724, 59705693, 59713732, 59756136, 59863765 and 59871139; and to accept applicants 56811635, 57900172, 58506068, 5899807, 59728739, and 59906326 as the applicants meet the requirements of the position. Motion carried unanimously. Qualifications of Applications: Assistant Building Inspector / Plan Reviewer Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to reject the following applications as they didn’t meet the minimum requirements of the position; 45305690, 52551965, 53745484, and 59050704 and to accept applicants 55232775 and 57262433 as the applicants meet the requirements of the position. Motion carried unanimously. New Position Acknowledgement- Housing Inspector Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to acknowledge and add to the classified service the job description for the position of Housing Inspector. Motion carried unanimously. Acknowledgement of MOU- Deputy Fire Marshal Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to acknowledge the MOU between the City of Danbury and Local 801 for the rank structure and conform with industry standards in the Fire Service and reclassify the position of Training Officer/Drillmaster to Deputy Fire Chief and add to the classified service the revised job description.
