Richter Park Authority Master Plan Committee Meeting Minutes Richter Park Authority Office February 1, 2023, 6:00 P.M. In compliance with Connecticut General Statute § 1-225, these minutes are being provided for informational purposes and are subject to approval of the Richter Park Authority Board of Directors at its next regular meeting. Chairman Judy Griemsmann called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m. Members present: Bobby Bria, Judy Griemsmann, Al Mead, Pam St. Pierre Mr. Mead made a motion to approve the minutes of the August 3, 2022 Master Plan Committee meeting. Ms. St. Pierre seconded. Motion passed unanimously. Old Business Update on Richter House Renovation Ms. Griemsmann reported the following based on a conversation with Pete Siecienski: Bids for work scheduled to go out at the end of March. Heating and Electrical are being worked on. New propane tank will be placed in hole left by removal of old oil tank for aesthetic reasons. Update on Musicals renovations Mr. Bria had no new developments to report. He did state, however, that he has been in discussion with the city about part of the construction plans behind the Richter House that will affect Musicals. New Business Review of Master Plan After an overall review of the Master Plan, the following ideas/suggestions were made for the RPA to consider: 1. Specific projects • The hiking trails would benefit from the addition of benches which could be constructed by volunteers such as Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts. • More social events be planned involving golf and dinner, for example golf and drinks or dinner on Friday night. • The entrance to the hiking trails needs better identification. There should be a sign or kiosk in the parking lot by the tennis courts. • Create a sculpture garden in front of the Richter House - perhaps extend the idea to some other pieces at various places in the park. 2. Public Relations • Publicize RP to a greater extent at Rivington which is close and already home to some regular RP golfers. • The Master Plan speaks about making the “Richter Brand” known in the community. This should be discussed and publicized in the community. FORE could have a role to play in publicizing RP in the community with such things as an online newsletter. • In this vein, the committee discussed Danbury’s new master plan for development in all areas of the community. All members of the MP Committee agreed that we should be familiar with the ideas for parks, and Richter Park in particular, as contained in the new Danbury Master Plan. Mr. Mead made a motion to adjourn at 6:55 p.m. Mr. Bria seconded. Motion passed unanimously. Respectfully submitted, Judy Griemsmann
