PLAN COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES MARCH 10, 2025 The meeting was called to order by Mayor Mike McDermott at 6:00 PM. Present at roll call were: Mayor McDermott, Dave Roelli, Joe Boll, Jeff McCarthy, and Fritz Hanewall. Absent: Kyle McCarville. Also present were: Aaron Stauffacher, Kerry Black, Marie Wamsley from Lafayette County Memorial Hospital, and Amy Johnson. Motion by Roelli, seconded by McCarthy that the meeting notice and agenda were properly posted. Motion carried. Motion by Roelli, seconded by Hanewall to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Motion carried. Steve Pickett arrived at 6:35 PM. Under reports, comments, suggestions, and recommendations from citizens, Marie Wamsley attended the meeting to suggest a street name for the Resolution to be taken up by the Commission later in the meeting. Marie stated that the Hospital Marketing Director and her would like to have the street named “Wellness Road” or “Wellness Street” for better marketing of the new Hospital, which will have an address on the road in question. Under new business, discussion was then held concerning an Annexation Petition from Lafayette County for land they own along County Highway K. Copies of the Petition for Direct Annexation, Annexation Description, and site map were included in the agenda packet. After discussion and consideration, motion by McCarthy, seconded by Boll, to recommend to the Council the approval of the Annexation Petition from Lafayette County for the land they own along County Highway K, as presented. Motion carried. Discussion was held concerning the proposed zoning designation for the land being annexed. Attorney Stauffacher provided a memo stating that the land included in the certified survey map be placed in the BP Business Park. An opinion letter from Mike Reuter, the City’s Building and Zoning Official, was included in the packet. Mr. Reuter stated his recommendation to zone the land is BP Business Park. After discussion and consideration, motion by Roelli, seconded by McCarthy, to recommend to the Council the approval of the BP Business Park zoning designation for the property being annexed. Motion carried. Discussion was then held concerning Resolution 2025-02, A Resolution to Name a City Street. The recommendation was made to name the street “Bev Anderson Street” in honor of Bev Anderson, former Lafayette County Board member, Lafayette County Hospital Board member, City Council Member, and Mayor of the City of Darlington. Several questions and comments were made regarding the street name. After discussion and consideration, motion Boll, seconded by McCarthy, to recommend to the Council the approval of Resolution 2025-02, A Resolution to Name a City Street “Bev Anderson Street.” Motion carried.
