PLAN COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES APRIL 7, 2026 The meeting was called to order by Mayor Mike McDermott at 6:15 PM. Present at roll call were: Fritz Hanewall, Mayor McDermott, Joe Boll, Dave Roelli, Jeff McCarthy, and Kyle McCarville. Absent: Phil Risseeuw. Also present were: Kerry Black, Cindy Corley, John Sonsalla, Steve Pickett, Dan Dreessens with Delta 3 Engineering, Inc., Kevin Andrews, and Amy Johnson. Motion by McCarthy, seconded by Boll, that the meeting notice and agenda were properly posted. Motion carried. Motion by Roelli, seconded by Boll, to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Motion carried. Under unfinished or deferred business, discussion was held concerning Resolution 2026-06, A Resolution to Name a City Street. The street is currently known as “Maple Street”. The recommendation was made to name the street “Paul Peterson Drive.” After discussion and consideration, motion Roelli, seconded by Hanewall, to recommend to the Council the approval of Resolution 2026-06, A Resolution to Name a City Street “Paul Peterson Drive.” Motion carried. Under new business, a discussion was held concerning a shelter house being built on City Property by the Darlington Lions Club. Copies of the rendering of the shelter house were included in the agenda packet. Steve Pickett presented updates to the Commission about the shelter house. After discussion and consideration, motion by McCarthy, seconded by Roelli, to approve the shelter house as presented. Motion carried. Discussion was then held concerning Resolution 2026-07, A Resolution to Name a City Street. The recommendation was made to name the street “Bluebird Lane.” After discussion and consideration, motion Hanewall, seconded by McCarthy, to recommend to the Council the approval of Resolution 2026-07, A Resolution to Name a City Street “Bluebird Lane.” Motion carried. Discussion was also held concerning the plat for the Walnut Ridge Subdivision. Dan Dreessens attended the meeting to present information and answer questions regarding the plat. After discussion and consideration, motion by McCarthy, seconded by Roelli, to approve the plat as presented and recommend approval of the same to the City Council. Motion carried. Discussion was held concerning lot prices for the Walnut Ridge Subdivision. Copies of lot price comparables were included in the agenda packet for review. There will be 35 residential lots in the subdivision, with lot sizes ranging from 10,625 square feet (.24 acres) to 24,367 square feet (.56 acres). Several questions were asked by those present. After discussion and consideration, motion by Boll, seconded by McCarthy, to set the lot price at $1.50 per square foot, and recommend approval of the same to the Council. Motion carried.
