Chairman Brunkow read the variance request from Wisconsin Whey Protein; owner of
the property located at 160 Christensen Drive. The request is for a variance from the building
setback from the South Christensen Drive right-of-way in order to add two (2) additional bays
onto the existing intake bay. This will allow for additional milk to be delivered and processed.
Chairman Brunkow reported no objections were received by members of the Zoning
Board, and Heather Blosch reported no objections were received in the City Office.
Adam Standaert explained reasons why variance is needed-company expanding/getting
bigger and this would allow Wisconsin Whey Protein to have 3 bays for whey and 1 bay for
combination whey/milk, allowing for more whey to be brought in.
Mike Reuter questions Dan Dreessens. Dan Dreessens with Delta 3 Engineering
provided further explanation using sketch of building on screen to all zoning members and
attendees. Wisconsin Whey is requesting an addition of two (2) bays onto the existing intake
bay. Mike Reuter states from the zoning side, he is in favor of the variance.
Following a brief discussion of the variance request, a motion was made by Steve
Brunkow and seconded by Walker Wiegel, to grant the variance request to Wisconsin Whey
Protein, for the building setback from the South Christensen Drive right-of-way in order to add
two (2) additional bays onto the existing intake bay for silo alley expansion for product storage.
Voice vote. Hastert, Nichols, North, Wiegel - All voted Ayes. Brunkow - Abstained. Motion
carried.
Adam Standaert wanted to address the zoning board regarding an issue discussed briefly
at the last meeting-the smell problem. The problem is with the 2 tanks on the corner of
Christensen Drive and Donahoe Drive. Wisconsin Whey is in the process of getting a quote for
charcoal filters to possible alleviate the smell issue.
There being no further business, a motion was made by Tim Hastert, seconded by Charlie
North, to adjourn the meeting at 12:07 pm.
