CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Chairman Ruben Colon at 6:00 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL: Also present Housing Coordinator Angelia Briggs; Administrative Assistant Denise Brooke and Planning & Development Services Assistant Director Ron Paradise. Present: 6 - Member William Bradley Member Jodi Pena-Castaldi Member Ruben Colon Member Peter J. Kurkjian Member Patricia Ulicny Member Michael E. Williams Excused: 3 - Member John Enyart Member Eric James Member Steven Sukow Absent: 1 - Member Yordanis Gonzalez 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Approval of Minutes from the June 16, 2015 AHAC Meeting Motion by Member Williams, seconded by Member Pena-Castaldi, to approve the Report titled Approval of Minutes from the June 16, 2015 AHAC Meeting . The motion carried by the following vote: For: 6 - Member Bradley, Member Pena-Castaldi, Member Colon, Member Kurkjian, Member Ulicny and Member Williams City of Deltona Page 1 Printed on 10/8/2015 Affordable Housing Advisory Minutes August 18, 2015 Committee 4. NEW BUSINESS: Mr. Paradise explained the policy and procedures associated with the Affordable Housing Recommendations Report and the Florida Housing Finance Corp. He thanked the AHAC members for their time and service and explained that the board would be sunset at the end of the year. Discussion between members and staff ensued about the time frame, funding and program procedures. 2015 Incentive & Recommendation Report Motion by Member Pena-Castaldi, seconded by Member Bradley, to approve and foward the Report titled 2015 Incentive & Recommendation Report to the Commission. The motion carried by the following vote: For: 6 - Member Bradley, Member Pena-Castaldi, Member Colon, Member Kurkjian, Member Ulicny and Member Williams 5. OLD BUSINESS: None 6. STAFF COMMENTS: None 7. BOARD/COMMITTEE MEMBERS COMMENTS: Discussions ensued with the members expressing their desire to continue their service on the AHAC Board. Members asked staff if the city would continue Fair Housing events. Staff explained that the events are costly and time consuming and we have a limited staff but steps are being taken to reaching out to our partners including banks, credit counseling agencies and realtors to help invest and sponsor in these events. We believe with their resources and great contacts they will be able to reach and help many. 8. PUBLIC FORUM: Dennis Casey spoke of his feelings on the lack of contunity between the residents and the city. With the changing of the city managers position many times he feels that the input from the citizens is often over looked and feels that the boards and committees made up by the citizens should continue with longer term limits. 9.
