CALL TO ORDER: 2. ROLL CALL – CITY CLERK: 3. INVOCATION AND PLEDGE TO THE FLAG: A. Invocation by Deltona Fire Department Chaplain Alvarez, the presentation of colors by the Deltona Fire Department Honor Guard and National Anthem by Yaya Santos. 4. BUSINESS: A. Request for approval of Resolution No. 2024-40, ratifying the results of the Primary held on August 20, 2024, and General Elections held on November 5, 2024. Background: The City held a Primary Election for Deltona Commission Districts No. 1 and 2 on August 20, 2024 and a General Election for Deltona Commission Districts No. 1, 4 and 6 on November 5, 2024. All seats are for a four-year term with the exception of District No. 1 which will be for the remainder of a four-year term to expire November 2026. These results of the election are to be ratified by the City Commission. The City Charter was changed in 2008 to remove the requirement that the Canvassing Board shall immediately report the results of an election to a meeting of the City Commission. However, historically the results have continued to be brought before the Commission for this purpose. Recognition of outgoing Commissioner. Background: The Mayor and Commission recognize the outgoing Commissioner. B. Swearing in of newly elected City Commissioners. Background: Swearing in of newly elected City Commissioners: · District 1 - Davison Heriot · District 2 - Emma Santiago · District 4 - Dori Howington · District 6 - Dominic “Nick” Lulli C. Selection of Vice Mayor. Background: Section 5, Item (5)(a), THE VICE MAYOR: ELECTION AND DUTIES, of the City Charter provides that: “Election. There shall be a Vice Mayor elected annually by the Commission from among the Commissioners. Such election shall take place at the first meeting after the general election.” 6. ADJOURNMENT: NOTE: If any person decides to appeal any decision made by the City Commission with respect to any matter considered at this meeting or hearing, he/she will need a record of the proceedings, and for such purpose he/she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based (F.S. 286.0105). Individuals with disabilities needing assistance to participate in any of these proceedings should contact the City Manager in writing at CityManager@deltonafl.gov or to Deltona City Hall, 2345 Providence Blvd., Deltona, FL 32725 at least 48 hours prior to the meeting at which the person wishes to attend. The City is not permitted to provide the use of human physical assistance to physically handicapped persons in lieu of the construction or use of ramps or other mechanical devices in order to comply with Florida law. If proper accommodations for handicapped access cannot be made at a particular public meeting venue pursuant to a timely written request under Section 286.26 F.S., the City Manager shall change the venue of that meeting to a location where those accommodations can be provided.
