Monday, November 11, 2019 5:30 PM City Council Work Session Room
After determining that a quorum is present, the Historic Landmark Commission of the City of Denton, Texas
will convene in a Closed Meeting on Monday, November 11, 2019, at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Work Session
Room at City Hall, 215 E. McKinney Street, Denton, Texas, at which the following will be considered:
1. Closed Meeting:
A. HLC19-062 Consultation with Attorneys - Under Texas Government Code Section 551.071.
Consult with the City’s attorneys and discuss legal issues relating to a pending application
for a certificate of appropriateness application at 2026 W. Oak; where discussion of
these legal matters in an open meeting would conflict with the duty of the City’s attorneys
to the City of Denton, the Denton Historic Landmark Commission, and the Denton City
Council, under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the State Bar of
Texas, or otherwise compromise the City’s legal position in the event of a legal dispute.
Following the completion of the Closed Meeting, the Historic Landmark Commission will convene in a Regular
Meeting in the Work Session Room at City Hall, 215 E. McKinney Street, Denton, Texas at which the
following items will be considered:

2. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION
A. HLC19-067 Consider approval of the minutes of October 14, 2019.

B. COA19-0002 Hold a public meeting and consider an application for a Certificate of Appropriateness
a (COA), in accordance with Section 2.9.2 of the Denton Development Code, to construct
a new building at 2026 West Oak Street, within the West Oak Area Historic District
(WOH). The site is located on Oak Street between Bradley Street and Thomas Street.

C. COA19-0012 Hold a public meeting and consider an application for a Certificate of Appropriateness
(COA), in accordance with Section 2.9.2 of the Denton Development Code, to construct
a backyard wood deck at 705 West Oak Street, within the Oak Hickory Historic District
(OHH). The site is located on the corner of Oak Street and Denton Street.

3. CONCLUDING ITEMS
A. Under Section 551.042 of the Texas Open Meetings Act, respond to inquiries from the Historic Landmark
Commission or the public with specific factual information or recitation of policy, or accept a proposal to place
the matter on the agenda for an upcoming meeting AND Under Section 551.0415 of the Texas Open
Meetings Act, provide reports about items of community interest regarding which no action will be taken, to
include: expressions of thanks, congratulations, or condolence; information regarding holiday schedules; an
honorary or salutary recognition of a public official, public employee, or other citizen; a reminder about an
upcoming event organized or sponsored by the governing body; information regarding a social, ceremonial, or
community event organized or sponsored by an entity other than the governing body that was attended or is
scheduled to be attended by a member of the governing body or an official or employee of the municipality; or
an announcement involving an imminent threat to the public health and safety of people in the municipality that
has arisen after the posting of the agenda.
