After determining that a quorum is present, the Historic Landmark Commission of the City of Denton,
Texas will convene in a Closed Meeting on Monday, December 12, 2022, at 5:30 p.m. in Training
Room 1 at the Development Service Center, 401 N Elm Street, Denton, Texas, at which the following
item will be considered:

A. HLC22-077 Under Texas Government Code Section 551.071, consult with the City’s attorneys
and discuss legal issues relating to a pending application for a certificate of
appropriateness application at 2026 W Oak Street; where discussion of these legal
matters in an open meeting would conflict with the duty of the City’s attorneys to
the City of Denton, the Denton Historic Landmark Commission, and the Denton
City Council, under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the
State Bar of Texas, or otherwise compromise the City’s legal position in the event
of a legal dispute.
B. HLC22-102 Under Texas Government Code Section 551.071, consult with the City’s attorneys
and discuss legal issues relating to an enforcement action for demolition of a
contributing structure on a property located at 928 W Hickory Street; where
discussion of these legal matters in an open meeting would conflict with the duty of
the City’s attorneys to the City of Denton, the Denton Historic Landmark
Commission, and the Denton City Council, under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of
Professional Conduct of the State Bar of Texas, or otherwise compromise the City’s
legal position in the event of a legal dispute.
Following the completion of the Closed Meeting, the Historic Landmark Commission of the City of
Denton, Texas will convene in Regular Meeting at 6:30 p.m. in Training Rooms 3, 4, and 5 at which the
following items will be considered:

Interested citizens should arrive at the meeting prior to the scheduled start time. Public comment will

A. HLC22-106 Consider approval of the November 14, 2022 minutes.

B. COA22-0015 Hold a public meeting and consider an application for a Certificate of
Appropriateness, in accordance with Section 2.9.2 of the Denton Development
Code, to add a new sanctuary building on the existing St. Maximus Orthodox
Church Campus located at 2026 W Oak Street, within the West Oak Area Historic
District. The site is located on the north side of W Oak Street between Bradley

C. COA22-0017 Hold a public meeting and consider an application for a Certificate of
Appropriateness, in accordance with Section 2.9.2 of the Denton Development
Code, to install solar panels on the roof of an existing residence located at 2224
Houston Place, within the West Oak Area Historic District. The site is located on
the north side of Houston Place east of Thomas Street. (COA22-0017, 2224

4. CONCLUDING ITEMS
A. Under Section 551.042 of the Texas Open Meetings Act, respond to inquiries from the Historic
Landmark Commission or the public with specific factual information or recitation of policy, or accept
a proposal to place the matter on the agenda for an upcoming meeting AND Under Section 551.0415
of the Texas Open Meetings Act, provide reports about items of community interest regarding which no
action will be taken, to include: expressions of thanks, congratulations, or condolence; information
regarding holiday schedules; an honorary or salutary recognition of a public official, public employee,
or other citizen; a reminder about an upcoming event organized or sponsored by the governing body;
information regarding a social, ceremonial, or community event organized or sponsored by an entity
other than the governing body that was attended or is scheduled to be attended by a member of the
governing body or an official or employee of the municipality; or an announcement involving an
imminent threat to the public health and safety of people in the municipality that has arisen after the
posting of the agenda.
NOTE: The Historic Landmark Commission reserves the right to adjourn into a Closed Meeting on any
item on its Open Meeting agenda consistent with Chapter 551 of the Texas Government Code, as
amended, or as otherwise allowed by law.
