UNAPPROVED DERBY PARK AND URBAN FORESTRY BOARD MINUTES February 10, 2022 Call to Order: 11:00 A. M. Roll Call: Members Present Members Absent Sherii Farmer Matt Beigel Marty Hunt Bruce Renberger Dave Peebler Jason Griffin Rick Dame Also in attendance: Steve White, Joe Loflin, Shana Sneath, Bonnie Thieme Approval of Minutes: Motion: Jason Griffin moved to approve the minutes from December 9, 2021 Second: Dave Peebler second. Vote: All yea, motion carried. Open Forum: Mary Hunt asked about the second tee plans for the disk golf park. Plans are in the works; staff is going to try to build them off-site and install. The signs for the new hours of Madison Central Park have been installed. Hours changed due to noise complaints, but the walking path is still open 24 hours. Old Business: Parks Master Plan: Mr. White let everyone know the public can get more information about the Parks Master Plan at: o Website: Derbyparksplan.com o Facebook: DerbyKsParks o Twitter: @derbyks o Instagram: cityofderbyks New Business: The steering committee for the Parks Master Plan is being formed. Sherii Farmer and Marty Hunt are going to be the representatives from the Parks Board on the committee. The first public event will be next Tuesday, February 15 at the Venue. Citizens will 1 be introduced to Pros Consulting and Confluence, who are going to be working on the master plan. A presentation and storyboards will be available for citizens to review and give input as to what they would like see in Derby’s Parks in the future. Stakeholder meetings are also kicking off. Staff will be meeting the DRC and Senior Center and USD 260 among others to gain input. The PUF Board is encouraged to attend community meetings and please wear your green shirts as representatives of the board. The Planting Guide is going to be updated in 2022. Jason Griffin and Bonnie Thieme, Horticulturist will be updating it. Several ideas for enhancing it were recommended. It will be presented to City Council in April. The PUF Board will be manning a booth at Spring Into Art in April and our Horticulturist will be adding an activity for the kids. There is an open seat on the Parks Board. We will be advertising the vacancy soon, please tell anyone that you think would interested in serving. The dog was park closed for the first time due to the wet conditions. The grass is getting highly damaged; staff is attempting to let it dry out before dogs are allowed back in there. Motion to adjourn: Jason Griffin moved to adjourn the February 10, 2022 PUF meeting.
