APPROVED SUMMARY MINUTES SENIOR SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD 10:00 A.M. January 8th, 2014 CITY OF DERBY ROLL CALL GERALD BROWNLEE JIM BURGESS TOM DAVIDSON JACK HEMPHILL DUANE DAY MARILYN NEWKOLD - ABSENT ELEANOR UNDERWOOD CITY STAFF STEPHANIE KNEBEL DEE WILLIAM KIM HART Public Forum Agenda Item #1 RE: WSU Intern. Dee Williams introduced the new Intern from WSU. Julee Sandoval. Julee was will be working at the Senior Center until May 14, and she will then continue her schooling in Physical Therapy. RE: City Council Meetings. Stephanie Knebel briefed the Board on future City Council meetings they may want to attend: January 28th Dee will accept a Derby Community Foundation Grant; on February 25th the John Truex Memorial will be received; Also on February 25th Dee will be presenting her annual reports. Agenda Item #2 RE: Advisory Board Fund report for December 2013. Duane Day stated that expenses for December were $0 and revenue was $2,921.99. Duane stated the account balance is $15,680.25. MOTION: Gerald Brownlee moved to receive and file the Advisory Board Fund report for December 2013. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried. Agenda Item #3 RE: Approval of the Minutes from the December 2013 Advisory Board Meeting. 1 MOTION: Duane Day made a motion the minutes from December 2013 be approved. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried. Agenda Item #4 RE: Derby Dash Scholarship Fund Report. Dee Williams reviewed the Derby Dash Scholarship Fund report for December 2013. There was $140 in scholarships being used. Dee also stated The Derby Community Foundation awarded a grant to the Derby Dash Scholarship fund in the amount of $600. The John Truex Memorial funds came to a total of $388 for the scholarship fund. MOTION: Tom Davidson moved to receive and file the December 2013 Derby Dash Scholarship Fund report. Gerald Brownlee seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #5 RE: January TNT Spaghetti Supper. Tom Davidson reported that the January TNT Spaghetti Supper had 62 in attendance with a net profit $176.37. The February TNT is going to be Chicken and Noodles. Tom asked Dee if it would be possible to purchase a couple crock pots and a salad shooter. Dee said there was a Cuisinart machine in the kitchen that could be used . Stephanie Knebel suggested asking for Senior Center patrons donations of crock pots. MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion to receive and file the December 2013 TNT report. Gerald Brownlee seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #6 RE: Bingo Blowing Machine. Tom Davidson handed out information on several Bingo blowing machines. The Board reviewed the information and decided that $660 was too much money to spend. MOTION: Gerald Brownlee made a motion that the Board does not purchase a Bingo Blowing machine. Duane Day seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried 2 Agenda Item #7 RE: Advisory Board Nominations. Dee Williams reviewed that the appointments of Eleanor Underwood, Marilyn Newkold and Jim Burgess expire in May. Dee explained they would need to reapply and the Mayor will need to reappoint them. Dee said that she would put information about the Advisory Board on her notes in the Prime Times newsletter. Agenda Item #8 RE: Prairie Harvest Peppernuts. Kim Hart gave the Board information on the Peppernut sales. The total profit was $114.50. Agenda Item #9 RE: DSC Advisory Board Donation Letter. Dee Williams stated as of 1/8/2014, the Advisory Board has received $8,902 in donations. Expenses total $930.81 making the net profit to date $7.971.19.
