APPROVED SUMMARY MINUTES SENIOR SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD 10:00 A.M. May 4, 2016 CITY OF DERBY ROLL CALL GERALD BROWNLEE JANICE NEAGLE JIM BURGESS DIANE SCHMITT, TREASURER TOM DAVIDSON, SECRETARY ELEANOR UNDERWOOD, CHAIRMAN DUANE DAY, VICE CHAIRMAN CITY STAFF DEE WILLIAMS KIM HART Public Forum Agenda Item #1 RE: Accreditation Recognition. Dee Williams stated the City Council will recognize the Accreditation committee May 24th at 6:00pm at the City Council meeting. RE: Dee’s Retirement Reception. Dee reminded the Board about her Retirement Reception at the Venue June 17th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Agenda Item #2 RE: Advisory Board Fund report April 2016. Diane Schmitt gave the Advisory Board Fund report for April 2016. The deposits totaled $466.66 and expenditures were $244.86 with an ending balance $13,599.04. MOTION: Duane Day moved to receive and file the Advisory Board Fund report for April 2016. Gerald Brownlee seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried. Agenda Item #3 RE: Approve April 2016 Advisory Board Meeting minutes. Jim Burgess said Senior was misspelled on line 4. MOTION: Gerald Brownlee made a motion to approve the minutes with the correction from April 6, 2016. Diane Schmitt seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried. 1 Agenda Item #4 RE: Approve April 2016 Derby Dash Scholarship Report. Dee Williams gave the report for the March Derby Dash Scholarship Report. There was $0 used in scholarships in April leaving an ending balance $479. MOTION: Tom Davidson made a motion to approve the Derby Dash Scholarship Report for April 2016. Janice Neagle seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried. Agenda Item #5 RE: DSC Advisory Board Manual. Dee Williams helped the Board update their Advisory Board Manuals with current information. Agenda Item #6 RE: Election of Officers. Dee Williams stated it was time to Elect Officers for the 2016-2017 Advisory Board. Discussion was held and Duane Day suggested a vote by Acclamation. Jim Burgess made a motion for a vote by Acclamation of all the officers; Eleanor Underwood as Chairman, Duane Day as Vice Chairman, Tom Davidson as Secretary and Diane Schmitt as Treasurer. Duane Day seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried. Agenda Item #7 RE: Accreditation. Dee Williams stated Jay Morgan a consultant for NCOA will be at the Derby Senior Center May 10th and May 11th for the Accreditation review. Dee let the Board know she will schedule a time for the Board to meet with Mr. Morgan. Agenda Item #8 RE: TNT. Tom Davidson stated at the TNT for April 5th they served Baked Pork Loin and served 92 patrons. Tom also stated the total profit was $239.47. Agenda Item #9 2 RE: Covered Dish Chicken. Kim Hart stated this month there is a Free Informational Lunch which will replace the Covered Dish lunch. Agenda Item #10 RE: Treadmill. Dee Williams let the Board know a new treadmill will be delivered on May 4th. The treadmill will be purchased using $4,900 from line item under Capital Improvement, $500 money given for a trade in of the old treadmill and the remainder will be from memorial funds. Agenda Item #11 RE: Programming Request. Dee Williams stated Elvis is alive and coming to the Venue in Derby, June 14th at 6:00 P.M. Dee stated it is open to the community and the admission will be $15. Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served and there is seating for 376. Discussion was held. Dee asked the Board to help sponsor the event with a $1,000 donation. MOTION: Gerald Brownlee moved that the Board donate $1,000 to the Elvis event. Janice Neagle seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, 1 nay, motion carried ADJOURNMENT MOTION: Duane Day made a motion for adjournment. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Meeting adjourned at 10:56 A.M.
