APPROVED MINUTES SENIOR SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD 10:07 AM April 5th, 2017 CITY OF DERBY ROLL CALL GERALD BROWNLEE JANICE NEAGLE JIM BURGESS DIANE SCHMITT, TREASURER TOM DAVIDSON, SECRETARY ELEANOR UNDERWOOD, CHAIRMAN DUANE DAY, VICE CHAIRMAN CITY STAFF TED AUSTIN - ABSENT BREANNA MONK KIM HART Public Forum Agenda Item #1 RE: Ron Estes BreAnna Monk let the Board know Ron Estes who is running for the 4th District Seat in the U.S. Congress and County Commissioner Jim Howell came to the Derby Senior Center for a tour and visit. BreAnna stated it was a very nice visit. RE: Bingo Duane Day stated one of the suggestions was that one of the Bingo’s be moved to an afternoon session. Discussion was held and BreAnna said there will be no time changes at this time. RE: Negative Comments Eleanor Underwood stated some of the suggestions were very negative and she wanted them modified. Discussion was held and it was decided BreAnna handled the comments correctly. BreAnna stated in the future she plans to filter the suggestions from complaints and if a name is provided she will make contact to discuss the situation. RE: Volunteer Tax Help Jim Burgess thanked BreAnna for lunch that was provided for the tax volunteers. RE: Chicken Duty / Covered Dish Lunch Duane Day asked who is in charge of picking up the chicken for the April Covered Dish Lunch. Duane also asked if it could be added to the Agenda starting in May. Kim Hart will put the item back on the agenda starting in May. 1 Agenda Item #2 RE: Advisory Board Fund Report March 2017 Diane Schmitt gave the Advisory Board Fund Report for March 2017. The expenses for March totaled $2,286.85 and the income was $391 with an ending balance of $19,570.42. MOTION: Jim Burgess moved to approve and file the Advisory Board Fund Report for March 2017. Janice Neagle seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #3 RE: Approve March 1st, 2017 Minutes MOTION: Gerald Brownlee made a motion to approve the minutes from the March 1st, 2017 Derby Senior Center Advisory Board meetings. Duane Day seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #4 RE: Approve March 2017 Derby Dash Scholarship Report BreAnna Monk gave the report for the March Derby Dash Scholarship Report. $24 used in scholarships which leaves an ending balance of $391. MOTION: Diane Schmitt made a motion to approve the Derby Dash Scholarship Report for March 2017. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #5 RE: March 2017 TNT BreAnna Monk stated the March TNT was Pioneer Women Pulled Pork with a total profit of $234.75. The total patrons and volunteers served were 81. MOTION: Gerald Brownlee made a motion to approve the TNT Report for March 2017. Duane Day seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #6 2 RE: Cornerstone Committee BreAnna Monk stated the Cornerstone Committee met in February. BreAnna said the weights with weight rack and game table covers have been received. Discussion was held. Agenda Item #7 RE: MySeniorCenter BreAnna Monk let the Board members know that MySeniorCenter has offered the Derby Senior Center a deal. MySeniorCenter will provide a new sign in computer free every 5 years. The computer will come loaded with 5 advertisements on the screen saver for national companies. This was approved by Ted Austin and Kathy Sexton. Agenda Item #8 RE: Starbucks BreAnna Monk explained the new Starbucks program. BreAnna said Starbucks is donating perishable food items to the seniors rather than throwing them away. BreAnna said the volunteers are trained on the new food handling safety protocol.
