BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS CITY OF DOTHAN, ALABAMA ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING MARCH 31, 2015 Pursuant to adjournment of the meeting held on March 17, 2015, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Dothan, Alabama, met in adjourned regular session in the Commission Chambers of the Roy Driggers Municipal Building at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 31, 2015 with the following members present: Mayor Mike Schmitz, Associate Commissioners Amos M. Newsome, Jr., Albert Kirkland, John Ferguson, Susan Anderson, and Hamp Baxley. Commissioner Kevin Dorsey was absent. Also present were City Manager Michael West, and Assistant City Clerk Wendy Shiver who recorded the Minutes of the Meeting, and the local news media representatives. City Clerk Tammy Danner was absent. Mayor Schmitz called the meeting to order. Mayor Schmitz introduced Resolution No. 2015-81 (recorded in Ordinance Book No._______at Page_______), canvassing the results of the City of Dothan Special Municipal Run-Off Election held on March 24, 2015, which was read. WHEREAS, a Run-off Election was held in the City of Dothan, Alabama on March 24, 2015 under applicable provisions of law, for the election of an Associate Commissioner for District 5 to complete the unexpired term of Taylor Barbaree expiring on October 1, 2017; and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of said City has met at the time and place, and has canvassed the results of said Run-off Election as required by law. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Dothan, Alabama as follows: Section 1. That upon canvassing the Certificates of Results prepared by the officials who held said election, the total votes cast for each candidate for Associate Commissioner for District 5 as shown by said certificates are as follows: ASSOCIATE COMMISSIONER – DISTRICT 5 Beth Kenward – 766 Mary Beth Reynolds – 660 Section 2. Having received a majority of votes cast in said Run-off Election held on March 24, 2015, the following person has been declared the winner and shall serve the term as indicated, beginning April 6, 2015, upon their taking the Oath of Office: ASSOCIATE COMMISSIONER – DISTRICT 5 Beth Kenward - 766 Commissioner Kirkland moved for adoption, motion seconded by Commissioner Anderson and unanimously adopted. Mayor Schmitz congratulated Beth Kenward and he welcomed her aboard. He announced a swearing-in ceremony will be held on Monday, April 6th at 2:00 p.m. in the Commission Chambers with a reception immediately following in the Board Room. Mayor Schmitz expressed appreciation to Susan Anderson for her contributions to the Commission during her time of service. He thanked Mary Beth Reynolds and Rhonda Pasibe for running, and he recognized all the candidates for their hard work in campaigning. Minutes of the Board of Commissioners – March 31, 2015, continued.
