BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS CITY OF DOTHAN, ALABAMA ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING JULY 11, 2017 Pursuant to adjournment of the meeting held on June 20, 2017, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Dothan, Alabama, met in adjourned regular session in the Dothan Opera House at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 with the following members present: Mayor Mike Schmitz, Associate Commissioners Kevin Dorsey, John Ferguson, and David Crutchfield. Commissioners Amos M. Newsome, Jr., Albert Kirkland, and Beth Kenward were absent. Also present were City Manager Michael West, City Clerk Tammy Danner, Assistant City Clerk Wendy Shiver who recorded the Minutes of the Meeting, and the local news media representatives. Mayor Schmitz called the meeting to order. Mayor Schmitz introduced Resolution No. 2017-208 (recorded in Ordinance Book No._______at Page_______), appointing election officials for the August 1, 2017 Election. Commissioner Crutchfield moved for adoption, motion seconded by Commissioner Dorsey and unanimously adopted. Mayor Schmitz introduced Resolution No. 2017-209 (recorded in Ordinance Book No._______at Page_______), establishing the compensation for the election officials. Commissioner Ferguson moved for adoption, motion seconded by Commissioner Crutchfield and unanimously adopted. Mayor Schmitz introduced Resolution No. 2017-210 (recorded in Ordinance Book No._______at Page_______), declaring the following named persons, being the only persons filing a statement of candidacy for the office indicated for the August 1, 2017 election, as duly elected for a four year term beginning October 2, 2017: Albert Kirkland–Associate Commissioner–District 3; Beth Kenward–Associate Commissioner–District 5; David Crutchfield–Associate Commissioner–District 6; Franklin D. Jones–Board of Education Member–District 2; Susan Vierkandt–Board of Education Member–District 3; and Chris Maddox–Board of Education Member– District 6. Commissioner Ferguson moved for adoption, motion seconded by Commissioner Dorsey and unanimously adopted.
