Commumty and Government Affairs Committee Meeting Minutes Monday, March 11, 2024 6:00 PM Present: Councilpersons Ben Bell, Elizabeth Wyckoff, and Larry Browne, Borough Manager John Davis, and Recreation and Special Events Coordinator Caitlin Hernandez. Councilperson Dennis Livrone also attended. ApprovalofJanuary8,2024Minutes. Minuteswereapprovedassubmitted. Farmers' Market License Agreement. The annual agreement was presented without any changes from last year. All members voted unanimously to forward the agreement to Borough Council for approval. Youth Leadership Recognition Award. Ben shared information on two applications received, which is a decrease from last year, and the Committee discussed both. The Committee also talked about ways to draw more interest and nominees and decided to extend the nomination deadline to the end of April. Economic Development Report. Caitlin reviewed some ofthe retail and restaurant changes in the Borough, including several new stores. John shared details on PennDot"s decision to deny any outdoor dining permission at this time. More information should be forthcoming from PennDot in the coming months. Social Media Report. Caitlin reviewed the continued increase in social media interaction and positive feedback on the Borough's spotlight on local restaurants and businesses. New/Old Business. In response to questions from Ben, John shared the Environmental Advisory Committee is not actively pursuing the gas powered lawn equipment but may become part of the larger climate action plan. Larry suggested the Committee explore short videos or other materials to share online explaining "How Local Government Works' in order to help the community gain that knowledge.
