Community and Government Affairs Committee Meeting Minutes Monday, September 9, 2024 6:00 PM Present: Councilpersons Ben Bell, Elizabeth Wyckoff, Larry Browne, and Joe Frederick, Borough ManagerJohn Davis, and Recreation and Special Events Coordinator Caitlin Hernandez. Councilmembers Dennis Livrone and Robert Kinney were also in attendance. ApprovalofJunel0,2024Minutes. Minuteswereapprovedassubmitted. Borough Modeling of Sustainable Practices. The Committee discussed the ongoing discussion of asking residents to discontinue the use of gas-powered lawn equipment, and the Public Works Department's discontinued use of the same. John shared the details of current gas-powered equipment in use by Public Works. The benefits and drawbacks regarding electric equipment were reviewed. Electric leaf blowers are already planned for purchase. John will talk in more detail with the Public Works Department. Economic Development Report. Caitlin reviewed several commercial vacancies in the Borough, as well as a handful of new and businesses. John shared an update on the current situation regarding the former To-Yo restauraunt. Social Media Report. Caitlin reviewed the continued increase in social media interaction on all platforms and positive feedback on the Borough's spotlight on local restaurants and businesses with Foodie Fridays and Merchant Mondays. New/Old Business. Caitlin and John shared a new mapping program being developed in response to the Comprehensive Plan process, which will be immensely helpful for the Economic Development Advisory Board, as well as the Parks and Recreation and Parking Departments.
