Fanny Chapman Pool Board of Managers Minutes of the Meeting March 24, 2025 Attending: Brian Lange, Alan Krach, Rob Purdy, Lori Howard, Mike Petrakis and Rebecca Masters. Also present were Pool Manager Drew Sterner and Borough Liaison Caroline Brinker Absent: Amy Parenti, David Ricci, John West Also in attendance was Sherry Petrakis, Swim and Dive Team, and Student Member James Shandlay The meeting was called to order at 7:00P.M. by Brian. Approval of the Minutes The minutes of the February 24th meeting were reviewed. Becki made a motion to approve the minutes, the motion was seconded by Lori, and the minutes were unanimously approved. Finance – Brian, Alan & Rob The Board reviewed invoices totaling $5,582.93. Alan reported the invoices paid were routine expenditures and budgeted costs. Invoice payments included the Cardinal and Doylestown Observer advertisements for their second runs, and the annual fee for the Peak registration software. Alan made a motion to approve payment of the invoices, the motion was seconded by Becki, and the motion to approve payment of the invoices was unanimously approved. Operations – Alan & Rob Drew presented his review of the shade structure options for the diving well to provide protection during dive practices and meets in his Pool Manager’s Report. Programs – Lori & Becki Lori and Becki had nothing to report. Personnel – Rob and Lori Brian reported that (2) Swim Coach applications were received to date. Brian and the Personnel Committee will be interviewing each applicant tomorrow. The plan is to have a decision quickly before the next Board Meeting in preparation for the season. The Committee will make a recommendation after the interviews, and Brian will communicate to the Board the recommendation offline seeking Board approval. If approval to move forward is attained, Drew will present an offer to the applicant selected. The goal is to have at least one additional adult assistant coach on deck in addition to the head coach. Publicity/Marketing – Amy & Dave Nothing to report. Long Range Planning – Alan Alan, Mike and Drew will meet early Summer to review future projects. Membership Rules –Becki Becki had nothing to report. 100th Anniversary Celebration – Rob, Amy, Becki & Alan The next committee meeting is scheduled for April 7th. Updates will be provided at the April Board meeting. Pool Manager’s Report – Drew Drew was notified by a long time member that she had updated her will and included an endowment to Fanny Chapman. (Jill Unger) Drew priced and reviewed various shade structure options for the diving well area to provide sun protection during dive practices. Drew recommended the purchase of additional standard umbrellas that will be dedicated for that space and can be reassigned after the season. The Board agreed to the purchase of 4-5 additional standard umbrellas to provide additional shading for the diving well area. Drew provided 2025 registration statistics. Total revenue as of 3/20/2025 was $379,395 compared to $347,510 for the same period in 2024, a 9% increase. Family and all other membership registrations are higher than 2024 registrations at this point last year. Swim/Dive Team registrations total 142 and Swim Lesson registrations are at 362, slightly under 381 in 2024. Drew reported applications for guard and instructor positions are closed and he expects to be fully staffed by the end of the month. Hiring letters will be mailed out in April. Drew will be scheduling Thompson Networks to install the new server and Wi-Fi access points. Drew met with Don Kelly and a concrete contractor who specializes in pools on March 14th. To review the main pool floor. He recommended actions steps and materials to use for the repair. Drew provided a detailed list of the recommended action plan in his report. This will provide Gilmore & Associates guidance for their proposal preparation. Caroline stated the project needs to be awarded by the August meeting to keep within the project timeline. Caroline will reach out to Jim of Gilmore & Associates tomorrow and provide him with this information, Drew will also call him. Brian requested that a follow up on this project be prepared for the April Board Meeting. Drew included the $2,200 invoice from Rodriguez Brother’s Landscaping for Spring cleanup and landscaping services. Caroline said the amount is within the budget and does not require board approval. Drew requested consideration for the new record board to not be installed in the office but in an outdoor option that would provide expanded visibility. He can look at options with enclosures/weather proof choices. The Board agreed this would eliminate any crowding in the office area, and can be used for additional displays through the season. Drew will report back on the outdoor options. Drew will continue to collect requests for Financial Assistance for review in April. He has received three. Swim Team Parents’ Report Sherry reported that Stephanie Downey did resign as Volunteer Coordinator and two other board members are considering the position. The first Parent Board meeting of the season will be held March 26th. Correspondence - None Old/New Business - None Adjournment Alan made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Mike seconded the motion, and the motion to adjourn was unanimously approved at 7:45 PM.
