Fanny Chapman Pool Board of Managers Minutes of the Meeting August 25, 2025 Attending: Brian Lange (Chair), Alan Krach, Lori Howard, Rebecca Masters, Amy Parenti, Mike Petrakis, Rob Purdy, David Ricci and John West. Also present were Pool Manager Drew Sterner and Borough Liaison Caroline Brinker Absent: Also in attendance was Sherry Petrakis, Swim and Dive Team The meeting was called to order at 7:00P.M. by Brian. Approval of the Minutes The minutes of the July 28th meeting were reviewed. Amy made a motion to approve the minutes, the motion was seconded by Dave, and the minutes were unanimously approved. Finance – Brian, Alan, Rob & Mike The Board reviewed invoices totaling $29,430.15. Al reported the invoices paid were routine expenditures and budgeted costs. He noted the $13,069.00 expenditure for the (2) diving boards for next season. They were purchased prior to August 1st at a reduced cost. Caroline asked Drew to prepare a list of capital items to include for next year’s budget. Al made a motion to approve payment of the invoices, the motion was seconded by Becki, and the motion to approve payment of the invoices was unanimously approved. Rob provided the board with the current Fanny Chapman Memorial Pool Legacy Giving Program for review. He had emailed the document to the group and asked for any feedback or requested changes be emailed to him prior to the next meeting for a final review and approval. Operations – Alan, Rob & John Caroline provided the Board with a review of the Annual Risk Control Survey received the day of the last Board meeting. Items related to the Fanny Chapman Pool were detailed on pages 13-14. Drew reported a copy of the DVWCT panel physician list had been posted and the labeling of the chemical room containers was done. Service requests had been submitted for the parking timber repairs cited and the split rail fence beam repair. There are no outstanding items. Rob was at the inspection and stated the Risk Control Consultant was very impressed with the property. Caroline reported that the bids for the middle pool concrete repair were presented to the Environmental and Recreation Committee on August 7th. The Borough Council authorized advertising of the bid August 26th and August 29th. A non-mandatory walk through is scheduled for September 4th. Programs – Lori, Becki, & Dave Diving day at Fanny Chapman has occurred on the last day of lessons and invites any child who would like to jump off the diving board an opportunity to do so in a supervised and safe environment. 1 Drew presented a Fanny Chapman Pools Diving Day Policy for review and approval by the Board. Brian suggested the Board Members take a week for a thorough review and vote on approval via email prior to 9/4/2025. Upon receiving majority votes for approval of the Diving Day Policy, Brian made a motion to approve, seconded by Rob, and the motion to approve the Fanny Chapman Pools Diving Day Policy was unanimously approved. Becki reported the water aerobics program has continued to be very popular and will end this week. It was a free pilot program this season. The discussion to attach a program price next season will be determined during the budget development. Personnel – Rob, Lori & Dave Employee reviews and feedback will be presented at the September meeting. Drew will meet with Dale and Sarah, and will include feedback from the Swim Team coaches and staff. Drew stated many guards and instructors are interested in returning next year. Drew provided a 2024 to 2025 hours’ comparison report and the hours are tracking as expected for the season. Long Range Planning – Alan, Mike, Brian & John Drew and Alan met regarding the four main projects completed or planned; The middle pool floor concrete repair scheduled for Winter/Spring 2026, the sump pump installation starting September 8th, the completion of the sewer line project, and the filter and meter repairs. Mike suggested the installation of a camera or alarm in the basement area for early detection of future issues. Membership Rules –Becki & Amy-Nothing to Report 100th Anniversary Celebration – Rob, Amy, Becki & Alan Becki reported there were 45 entries for the commemorative tile design contest. Three judges (a Mercer Tile Works representative, Doylestown Borough Mayor, and Doylestown Borough’s Arts & Crafts Director) are reviewing the entries and will each rank their top ten. The entry with the highest score will win first place and a second and third place winner will be selected. The first place winner receives a free family membership to the pool for the 2026 season. Becki asked the committee to approve prizes for the second and third place winners. Second place would receive a $100 redemption voucher towards a 2026 membership and the third place winner would receive a $50 redemption voucher for the 2026 season. Becki made a motion to approve awarding the second and third place tile contest winners a $100 and $50 redemption voucher respectively to be applied to their 2026 membership, the motion was seconded by Mike, and the motion to approve awarding the second and third place tile contest winners a $100 and $50 redemption voucher respectively was unanimously approved. The winners are to be announced on Labor Day. Amy reported that people are being identified to be interviewed. Tom Kane met with the committee and Fred Dunn spoke with Rob. An outline is being developed for the interviews and each committee member submitted potential questions to be asked. Photos are being received and scanned and will be archived at the Borough Hall. Amy has contacted the videographer for guidance as to how many interviews are needed for a 45minute video. The plan is to have the video completed by next Summer. Pool Manager’s Report – Drew Drew reported that total revenue as of 8/20/25 was $732,225, $58,475 (8.7%)ahead of last year at this time. Swim lessons concluded August 2nd with Fanny Fun Day. Dive clinics were held in August and water aerobics continued. The staff celebration was held August 14th and was enjoyed by all. 2 Future off-season repairs recommended include concrete work and/or repairs for the pool deck expansion joints, dive pool fence patch, Deck-A-Drain rea, re-anchoring of railing posts. The Sump Pump installation begins in September. Due to the recent failure of the sediment collection of the well water line, Drew and Don Kelly recommend the repairs of all flow meters, the replacement of the well water filer, drain repairs and sand replaced in the main pool filters, any flange leaks and replacement bolts for the upper and main pool piping, and the replacement of the drain valve in the lower lap pool. Drew will prepare a list for the 2026 budget consideration, including consideration for an automatic vacuum pool cleaner, updated sound system, and recycling dumpster. Furniture replacements will include umbrellas and bases (8) and chaises (25) and water filling stations. The vending machines introduced this season were popular and used by pool members and park participants. Swim Team Parents’ Report Sherry provided the Swim & Dive Team End of Season Survey results. She said the results are not surprising. New parents struggled with the weather delays and the cancellation of the planned parent meeting to review meet information. Comments included the meets not being started on time and the size of the team. Positive comments received regarding the weekly emails and excellent communication. Parents praised the positive coaching staff and energy and sense of community. Sherry said the survey provides valuable feedback and they will continue to implement the recommended improvements. Correspondence – None Old/New Business Brian and Rob met with John Foff, from the Y, to discuss the use of the Fanny Chapman Pool starting September/early October 2027, for Y Swim Team training. John Foff will present a complete proposal for Board review at the October meeting. Caroline noted the Board should have received an email from Erika Fellman with the invitation to the annual brunch to be held October 19th at the Hattery in Doylestown.
