DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH SHADE TREE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES July 11, 2023 The regular meeting of the Doylestown Borough Shade Tree Commission was held at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Doylestown Borough Hall, 10 Doyle Street. Members of the Commission in attendance were: Lisa Moscherosch, Jean Weston, and Baldev Lamba. Also in attendance were Borough Arborist, Bob McMullin, Building & Zoning Director, Karyn Hyland, Park and Recreation Director, Dave Burger. CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM. MINUTES APPROVAL: Minutes from the March meeting were amended and approved by those in attendance. (Weston/Moscherosch) SUBDIVISION/LAND DEVELOPMENT: None PERMIT APPLICATIONS: 35 W. State Street Commission approved the issuance of a permit for removal of 1 Red Oak. (Weston/Lamba) Recommended Approval 168 Lafayette Street Commission approved the issuance of a permit for removal of 1 Pin Oak. (Moscherosch/Weston) Recommended Approval 116 Sandy Ridge Drive Commission approved the issuance of a permit for removal of 1 Red Maple and 2 Evergreen. (Moscherosch/Weston) Recommended Approval 498 East Street Commission approved the issuance of a permit for removal of 1 Silver Maple. (Lamba/Weston) Recommended Approval 181 N. Franklin Street Commission approved the issuance of a permit for removal of 2 Bradford Pears. (Lamba/Weston) Recommended Approval 111 E. Ashland Street Commission approved the issuance of a permit for removal of 2 Maple.. (Moscherosch/Lamba) Recommended Approval 421 North Street Commission approved the issuance of a permit for removal of 1 Ash. (Weston/Lamba) Recommended Approval 11 Hickory Drive Commission approved the issuance of a permit for removal of 1 Maple and 1 Blue Spruce. (Weston/Lamba) Recommended Approval NEW/OLD BUSINESS: Hyland reported that the Planning Commission meeting for tonight, July 11th has been cancelled. Future focus group dates will be announced. Hyland and Burger spoke briefly to the Commission on how they can recommend what species of trees, and placement of them along Court Street. Burger also answered any additional questions the Commission had in regard to the Treekeeper software. ARBORIST REPORT: McMullin reported when considering the species of trees to plant within the Borough be aware that every year there are different invasive diseases and different insects that are reported by the State that will attack certain tree types. He recommends diversity in species selection. ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned at 7:55 PM.
